Walker A55 Quick Start Manual

DESCRIPTION: This kit is designed to mount the Spyker Fertilizer Spreader to 42-in, 48-in, and
52-in. gear-driven decks.
NOTE: Refer to Spyker Operator's Manual, Model S80-12010 for Safety, Assembly,
Installation, Operation and Maintenance instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Attach the base of the Spyker spreader frame to the Mounting Bracket (#1) using four (4) 3/8-16 x
1 hex bolts (F038), 3/8 x 1-1/4 retainer washers (#10), and 3/8-16 flange top lock nuts (F570) as
shown in the diagram.
2. Place rear legs of the Mounting Bracket (#1) through the cut openings in the Deflector Shield
Extension (#13) and install a Leg Mount Plate (#5) on each leg using two (2) 5/16-18 x 7/8 hex bolts
(F226) and 5/16-18 flange top lock nuts (F551) as shown.
3. On the spreader, remove the hardware that attaches the deflector shield to the frame. Position the
Deflector Shield Extension (#13) between the deflector shield and the frame. Secure the RH side
using a 1/4-20 x 2 hex bolt (F398), a 1/4 x 1 fender washer (F178) and 1/4-20 ESNA nut (F005) as
shown in the diagram. Position the Controller Bracket (#3) on the LH side in front of the deflector
shield, and secure the LH side.
4. Secure the RH side of the Controller Bracket (#3) using a 1/4-20 x 1-3/4 hex bolt (F236) and 1/4-20
ESNA nut (F005) on the RH side.
5. Using the Deflector Shield Extension (#13) as a template, drill four (4) 1/4" holes in the plastic
deflector. Attach the extension to the rear of the plastic deflector using four (4) 1/4-20 x 1 hex bolts
(F179), 1/4 x 1 fender washers (F178), and 1/4-20 ESNA nuts (F005) as shown in the diagram.
6. Slide the Channel Mounts (#2) into each end of the Mounting Bracket (#1). Hook the rear legs of the
Mounting Bracket (#1) under the front of the deck carrier frame, and slide the Channel Mounts (#2)
out to the deck carrier frame arms. Center the spreader between the carrier frame arms. Tighten
the knobs (#7) to secure the fertilizer spreader mount to the deck carrier frame. Install the lock pins
(#8) to secure the Channel Mounts.
7. Route the harness plug from the fertilizer spreader control unit through the opening in the deflector
shield as shown in the photo. Plug the wire harness (#6) into the control unit connector and the
motor connector. Use cable ties provided to secure the harness.
8. Install the Spreader Handle (#4) on the spreader unit using the two
(2) 1/4-20 x 5/8 hex bolts (F031) and 1/4-20 ESNA nuts (F005) shield
as shown in the photo. Plug the wire harness (#6) into the control unit
connector and the motor connector. Use cable ties provided to secure
the harness.
9. Install the Spreader Handle (#4) on the spreader unit using the two (2)
1/4-20 x 5/8 hex bolts (F031) and 1/4-20 ESNA nuts (F005).
