User instructions It is important that you teach yourself the correct, safe user instructions. To do this, you must be familiar with all the components of the wheelchair described in this user manual. Make sure you have inspected the slope before going up and down. That way, you will know what to expect and you can get on or off the slope safely. 4.4.1 Going down an incline When climbing a slope independently, we recommend that you bend your upper body forwards. This shifts the heaviest point forward and makes it easier to climb a slope.

This does not only make pushing the wheelchair more comfortable for the companion, it also makes the wheelchair safer to push. The Excel 9.9 is also equipped with companion handbrakes on the push handles (photo 7). By squeezing these, just like the hand brakes on a bicycle, the wheelchair brakes. The height of the push handles can also be adjusted by means of the lever buttons on the back of the frame tubes (photo 8).

The brake The Excel 9.9 is a wheelchair intended for accompanied use. You cannot move it yourself, but the person accompanying you is in control. This is why this wheelchair is equipped with accompanying brakes. As described in paragraph 6.2, this means that you can slow down while driving by squeezing the brake levers.

Transporting the wheelchair When designing your Excel Wheelchair, we have taken into account that it should be easy to transport your wheelchair in the car. The wheelchair is equipped with a folding frame. This allows the wheelchair to be folded. Moreover, the footrests can be swivelled away and the back can be folded.
Preventive maintenance is therefore very important. We advise you to have your wheelchair inspected at least once a year by a qualified Excel Mobility dealer. This dealer will, where necessary, only use Excel replacement parts. This annual inspection contributes to the long life of your wheelchair.
