- Page 5 Drain the water heater at regular intervals to remove sediment buildup (at least one time during the year). Your WTD128 water heater is fitted with a sacrificial anode rod which helps preventing corrosion by attracting corrosive elements. The anode rod needs to be replaced periodically.
