    Before you start ... Intended Use The scanner is a flat bed scanner which is only to be used – in accordance with the manual – to scan photographic material and reflection originals. Do not use the device as a surface for the storage of objects and liquids.

    Introduction General The scanner scans originals of the following types (preferably of a rectangular shape): Reflective originals with the total size of the A3 Format (normal originals: maximum scanning area: 305 mm x 432 mm) Transparent originals in A3 format (film, etc.: maximum scanning area: 305 mm x 400 mm).

    Start-up Transport Safeguards Unlocking the Transport Safeguards The light transmission unit of the scanner is held by clamps. These protect the scanner against damages during transport. Before you start oper- ation of the scanner, the transport safeguards have to be unlocked. If the scanner is to be trans- ported again, the transport safeguards must be locked again.

    Start-up Locking the Transport Safeguards The scanner must not be transported without pre- vious locking of the transport safeguards. 1. Switch the scanner off and back on again. After initialization, the scanner unit will automat- ically move into the correct position to fasten the transport safeguards.

  • Page 27 National regulations are to be observed when connecting using power cables which are not provided by Heidelberg, or when using plug adapters. Power cables used in the USA and Canada must at least be of type SJT.

    Start-up Notes on Power Cable: Choose a cable from the table below and make sure to comply with the relevant national regula- tions to connect your scanner to AC mains volt- ages between 100 V and 127 V or 200 V and 240 V resp.
