6. TIPS FOR MAINTAINING MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE a) Charge the battery pack before completely discharged. Always stop tool operation and charge the battery pack when you notice a decrease in tool power. b) Charge the battery pack between 41-105° F (5-40.5° C). Let a hot battery pack cool down before charging it.

5240-056 20V MAX BRUSHLESS 8" POLE CHAINSAW † CHECKING THE BATTERY CHARGE STATUS The level of charge remaining in the battery can be checked by using the battery LED power indicator that is contained on the end of the battery.

Turn the battery (2) upside down and slide it onto the charger. NOTE: Make sure the grooves (3) in the sides of the battery slide over the matching tabs on the charger (4) until the battery latch “clicks” into place. NOTES: When the charger is plugged into the wall receptacle and NO battery is on the charger, the green indicator light (5) will turn ON indicating the charger is “live”.

TENSIONING THE SAW CHAIN WARNING: before checking and adjusting. Always wear protective gloves when working on the chainsaw to avoid injury. PREPARATION FOR CUTTING Wear non-slip gloves for maximum grip and protection, Maintain a proper grip on the unit whenever the motor is running. Use your right hand to firmly grip the rear handle while your left hand has a firm grip on the pole shaft. Hold unit firmly with both hands.

MAINTENANCE 1. REPLACE SAW CHAIN AND GUIDE BAR The guide bar must be replaced when the guide groove of the guide bar is worn out. The spur gear on the bar is damaged or worn. Proceed as described in "Mounting the guide bar and saw chain". 2.
