only for use with 6 - 36V Dc systems (voltage
depends on individual tester selected).
do not apply voltage to the probes that exceeds
the specified maximum of that tester.
do not use with industrial/domestic 110V/230V
systems.
do not use on any circuit directly or indirectly
connected to Ac lines or any other Ac power source.
do not use with any component parts or circuits of
the ignition system.
observe standard workshop safety procedures when
using these testers.
Maintain correct balance and footing. Do not over
reach, ensure the floor is not slippery, wear non-slip
shoes.
When working near a running vehicle engine, remove
loose fitting clothing, ties, watches, rings, loose
jewellery, and contain or tie back long hair.
Wear appropriate protective clothing and keep hands
and body clear of moving engine parts.
When working with a running vehicle engine, ensure
that there is adequate ventilation.
Before using the testers, check the vehicle's electrical
wiring and disconnect any part or sub-system that is
sensitive to voltage and current pulses, such as air
bags, electronic control modules, etc.
refer to the instructions and procedures laid out in
the vehicle's manual, before attempting to
disconnect any part or subsystem of the electrical
circuit.
Ensure that the testers and leads are kept clear of
any moving engine parts or hot surfaces, at all times.
The testers' probes have an extremely sharp point -
extreme caution is needed when using them.
do not use the testers in the presence of explosive
gases, vapour or dust. Take care when working with
lead acid batteries as they can produce explosive
gases.
do not use leads if damaged or if wires are bared
in any way.
do not use these testers for any purpose other
than those for which they have been designed.
When not in use, store the testers carefully in a safe,
dry, childproof location. Avoid extremes of
temperature.

continuity tester.
The continuity tester requires an AA (1.5V) battery
(not supplied). Unscrew the handle from the base
and place a battery into the handle, negative end
first, screw handle back onto the base. Check the
condition of the battery and the bulb in the tester
by touching the probe against the clip, the bulb
should illuminate.
Disconnect the vehicle's battery. Select a vehicle
component/wire to be tested.
Attach the tester's clip to an earthing point, such
as the vehicle's bodywork, touch the probe onto
a terminal of the component or pierce a wire's
insulation with the probe, if the circuit is complete
then the bulb will illuminate. Ensure that the
connections are clean, otherwise a false result
may be given.
When battery is exhausted, remove it by
unscrewing the handle from the base and
remove the battery. Dispose of the battery carefully
and in line with local authority guidelines.
18-36v and 6-12v testers.
Before using the voltage testers, check to ensure
that the bulb is working. connect the tester to the
vehicle's battery by touching the probe of the
tester to one terminal and the clip to the other
terminal, the bulb should illuminate.
Depending on the component, it may require
the ignition to be in the 'oN' or 'AccESSorY'
position and the engine may need to be
running - see the vehicle's user manual.
Attach the tester's clip to an earthing point, or
to the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery.
Touch the probe onto a terminal of the
component or pierce a wire's insulation with the
probe, if the circuit is complete then the bulb will
illuminate. Ensure that the connections are clean,
otherwise a false result may be given.
If there is no circuit, further investigation will be
needed to rectify the problem. refer to the
vehicle's manual for the position of the fuses/fuse
box. If relevant fuse has blown, establish the
reason for this before replacing it with the same
fuse type. If the fuse is not blown, then work back
along the wiring from the component, testing
where possible for a live connection, to narrow
down where there is an open circuit, circuit break
or a bad connection or earth.
Maintenance.
To change the bulb, unscrew the handle from the
base and remove bulb (screw cap on continuity
Tester), replace bulb with a similar wattage bulb
and screw handle back onto the base.
occasionally wipe the testers using a clean cloth,
do not immerse them in any liquids.
