The Excelsior Gas Appliance Rangehood Interlock System is designed to ensure the supply of gas to a
gas appliance is only possible when the connected rangehood is in operating mode.
When installed, the unit detects when the rangehood fan is switched on and running. It then creates
pressure that activates the pressure switch, which in turn energizes the connected gas solenoid valve,
allowing gas to flow to the appliance. If the rangehood fan stops or fails to generate sufficient pressure,
the solenoid valve is de-energized, cutting off the gas supply to the appliance.
Typically, this interlock would be fitted to an approved gas barbecue with flame failure device that is
installed in a residential alfresco area under a suitable Excelsior rangehood.
THIS INTERLOCK MUST ONLY BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH
AN APPROVED GAS APPLIANCE THAT HAS A FLAME FAILURE
