OnePlus 12 Manual

Guideline

The purpose of this document is only to guide OnePlus technicians to carry out maintenance service to OnePlus products. The content shall be keep in confidential, only avail be able to OnePlus authorized service centers, and cannot be provided to third parties without authorization. Please follow the regulations and the guidance for maintenance service.

  1. The service center may be required to install the mobile phone in-vehicle system in the car if necessary. In the case of some failures, the radio frequency signal of the mobile phone may affect the car's power management system and ABS (ANTI-SKID BRAKING SYSTEM) anti-lock braking system. If necessary, please consult the car dealer or manufacturer to determine the antiinterference performance of the car electronic system to radio frequency energy.
  2. Mobile phones cannot be operated in the following places: places with potential explosions, such as: gas stations, gas stations, blasting work areas, etc.
  3. Any wireless transceiver equipment, including cell phones, may interfere with medical equipment protected by industrial establishments. If necessary, please communicate with the medical equipment manufacturer, other electronic equipment may also be interfered.

  1. Repair services and calibrations must be undertaken by qualified personnel only.
  2. Ensure all components, modules screws and insulators are correctly re-fitted after servicing and alignment.
  3. Electrostatic discharge is the main cause of damage to sensitive components of electronic products. Service centers must operate in accordance with OnePlus's requirements for ESD protection. Ensure all work is carried out at an ESD workstation and that an ESD wristband is worn.

General Repair Information

  1. Ensure all work is carried out at an ESD workstation and that an ESD wristband is worn before starting maintenance. Wear ESD gloves to avoid oil stains and fingerprints.
  2. Use protective films to protect the display, camera, camera lens to prevent dust and scratches.
  3. Use a clean cloth, ESD brush and alcohol (Concentration above 95%) for appearance cleaning. Do not use other items (such as an eraser) for cleaning to prevent the protective layer from being scratched, which may lead to oxidation and corrosion.
  4. Faulty welded mechanical parts (except shield cover and shield frame parts) can only be replaced and not repairable.
  5. Use accessories provided by OnePlus.
  6. Check the contacts or solder joints of devices that may cause simple faults (e.g. soldered interfaces or switches). Re-weld if necessary (only for service centers where lead-free soldering is available) and clean the flux remaining after soldering.
  7. Use the equipment provided by OnePlus to test the phone (e.g. When the charging function of the device is abnormal, do use the original OnePlus adapter to test to ensure the accuracy of the test results).
  8. Fill in the fault phenomenon code and fault reason code according to the actual situation, and accurately enter the replacement material code in the CRM system.

Preparation

The phone must be powered off before disassembly. System Power Off: Press the power key and volume up key then slide to power off. Forced Power Off: Long press the volume "+" key and power key for about 8 seconds until the display is off.

Machine disassembly steps

  1. Heating requirements: The parameters of the constant temperature platform are required to be 80℃±5℃, heating for 5min.
  2. Put the device into the fixture for disassembling the battery cover (machine parameter requirements: air pressure of 0.5~0.6MPa), and press the start button to automatically disassemble the battery cover.
  3. Remove the battery cover, clean the residue on the battery cover and bracket, and remove the low adhesive protective film to protect the rear camera hole and flash hole of the battery cover.
  4. Clean the residual adhesive on the BP surface of the middle frame, the surface of the motherboard bracket (as shown in the left 3D model diagram), and the surface of PET and the right speaker bracket.

Manual disassembly plan:

  1. Heating requirements: The parameters of the constant temperature platform are required to be 80℃±5℃, heating for 5min
  2. Wear electrostatic gloves on the left hand, and use a suction cup on the right hand to pull the bottom until a gap is opened (the suction cup is close to the bottom edge).
  3. Adjust the suction cup position, pull the middle left position and middle right position in sequence, until the bottom of the battery cover is pulled open (if it is not pulled open at once, reheat it), readjust the suction cup position, pull the top and middle positions in sequence, and pull the entire battery cover open.
  4. Dismantling the battery cover does not allow the use of a dismantling stick. Finally, when the battery cover is separated from the middle frame, it is forbidden to pull the battery cover vigorously

5 Disassembling the motherboard bracket Use tweezers to gently cut and tear off the adhesive area of the graphite sheet from the bottom (be careful not to touch the battery), and remove the motherboard bracket from the bottom up
6 Remove battery



  1. Disassemble the BTB of the battery on the mainboard, and open the BTB of the C board. Fully open the edge of the easy to tear paper on the side of the battery, and then use a small syringe to inject about 0.2ML of alcohol into the upper and lower handle positions. Tilt the phone and stand it up for 5-10 seconds to allow the alcohol to fully penetrate under the sticker, and the other side of the easy to tear paper should also follow the above steps.
  2. After standing still, hold the handle and slowly lift the battery (note that try to pull the battery straight to avoid vertical pulling, which may cause deformation of the battery). When pulling to the rear, remove the battery along with the easy to tear paper from the phone. Slowly remove the battery tear off paper and mark the repair label at the corresponding position of the battery.
  3. After removing the battery, it is necessary to check whether the double-sided adhesive is damaged, dirty or defective. For defective products, a special note should be made stating "double-sided adhesive is damaged". The repair team should replace the back adhesive. If it is OK, immediately attach the battery double-sided adhesive release paper.
7 Remove the rear camera Disassemble the three camera BTBs of the rear telephoto, wide-angle, and main camera, and remove the rear camera module. The bottom of the main camera has a weak adhesive backing, which can be slightly raised from the side before removing the camera (do not pull the camera FPC).
8 Disassemble the battery compartment foam Use tweezers to peel off the foam on the right and bottom of the battery compartment
9 Remove the box Disassemble the BOX
10 Disassemble the C board and small board bracket
  1. Disassemble the black RF cable
    Note:
    1. Lift the RF cable in the upper right corner of the battery compartment,
    2. Then lift the cable clamp,
    3. Then lift the RF socket), the small board bracket, and the BTB of the C board on the motherboard, and then remove the C board
  2. Disassemble the U-board on the motherboard/small board BTB and remove the Uboard

  1. Tear off the graphite sheet of the front camera and disassemble the front camera BTB
  2. Use an electric screwdriver to remove the preset screws of the motherboard, take out the motherboard from bottom to top, be careful not to scratch the FPC of the front camera, and clean the thermal conductive gel on the back of the motherboard and the corresponding position of the middle frame
  3. Gently pry away from the side of the camera with your fingertips, then tilt and remove the camera
15 Disassemble the motor Use a metal pry bar to lift and push out the motor from the disassembly position
16 Disassemble the receiver Use tweezers to lift the FPC adhesive position of the receiver from the disassembly position, use fingertips to pull it out from the side, tilt and remove the receiver, and tear off the adhesive residue on the receiver and the middle frame
17 Disassemble the Alert Slider
  1. Use tweezers to gently lift the disassembly position of the red arrow on the three section button, and then use tweezers to clamp out the three section cover plate
  2. Use tweezers to remove the three-stage bracket (usually with steel balls, be careful when handling to avoid steel balls rolling off and losing them)
  3. Remove the three-stage side key and gently remove the steel ball

Assembly Steps

1 Assemble the alert Slider


  1. Install the alert slider into the middle frame, note that the magnet is at the top, if installed upside down, it will cause no function issue.
  2. Use tweezers to gently place the steel ball into the center hole of the side key bracket
  3. Slowly place the assembled alert slider into the middle frame, note that the arrow above the side keys is facing downwards and the steel balls are not misaligned.
  4. Use tweezers to install the alert slider, first align the upper positioning hole, and then push it into the card slot. Press the upper and lower sides into place
  5. Use tweezers to press both sides of the lower end of the cover plate to ensure proper installation
2 Install power button
  1. Insert the power key FPC switch into the middle hole of the power key slot on the upper cover
  2. When installing the power button FPC bracket, pay attention to the groove facing the body
  3. Stick the power button with waterproof foam
3 Install Volume keys Install volume keys, and pay attention to the arrow indicating that the side with the pillar is facing inward, and press it down
4 Install receiver/motor /mainboard/front camera


  1. Install the receiver, motor and point conduction gel.
  2. Install the mainboard and tidy up the RF cables. install two fixing screws for the mainboard.
  3. Install the front camera, attach double-sided adhesive to fix the front facing camera, and attach a graphite sheet to the front facing camera.
  4. Install a rear main camera and telephoto.
  5. Install the rear wide-angle and stick the motherboard conductive cloth onto the wideangle conductive cloth;
  6. Buckle the front BTB and attach the front graphite.
Remark:
  1. Check if the conductive foam and cloth in the middle frame are intact
  2. After reinstalling the mainboard, check if the conductive cloth of the camera is intact
  3. Check if the conductive foam on the wide-angle BTB clamping steel plate of the antenna bracket is intact
5 Install the sub board Install the sub board and tighten the RF cable
6 Install U board, L board, small board, C board, RF cable
  1. Install the L board and apply LCMBTB doublesided adhesive on the small board;
  2. Install U-board and C-board;
  3. Secure the BTB;
  4. Buckle the RF cable at the small board end and incorporate the RF cable into the cable tray;
  5. Install the small board bracket
7 Install speaker box bracket, attach RF cable foam, and attach foam at the bottom and top of the battery compartment
  1. Install the speaker BOX bracket and lock the screws with 8Pcs;
  2. Apply RF wire foam;
  3. Stick foam at the bottom of the battery compartment;
  4. Stick foam on the top of the battery compartment.
8 Install the rear camera Install the rear camera
9 Install the battery Stick the battery easy to tear sticker, fasten the battery BTB buckle and press it firmly;
10 Install the F board and motherboard bracket

  1. Install the C board
  2. Install the main board bracket, insert it from the top side, press it from top to bottom according to the buckle position, and use your hand to smooth out the graphite sheet from top to bottom.
  3. Install the screws 20PCS.
Remark:
  1. Check if the conductive cloth of the camera is intact
  2. Check if the conductive foam on the wide-angle BTB clamping steel plate of the antenna bracket is intact
  3. If disassembling the camera is involved, check if the conductive cloth on the middle frame is intact
11 Attach battery cover accessories Stick double-sided adhesive tape on the battery cover (61271700116);
12 Install battery cover
  1. Install the battery cover
  2. Install the card holder and turn it on for inspection.
13 Pressurize Use a universal pressure maintaining fixture to maintain pressure for 10 minutes.

Calibration

Enter the calibration interface: dial > *#899# > After Sale Devices Calibration > enter the password 6776.

Calibration Method
After entering the calibration interface, the first step is to select "After-sales three-camera calibration", align the yellow frame with the edge of the black and white grid on the chart, and then click to take a photo. The mobile phone will enter the calculation interface. Do not perform any operations during the calculation until the calibration shows "Pass"; then select "After-sales three-camera calibration (105cm)" to calibrate in the same way until the calibration shows "Pass". If "failed" is displayed all the time, you need to reinstall or replace the hardware for troubleshooting.

9 Flashlight Test Open the flashlight. If it can be opened normally with color deviations, the function is good;
10 Super Vooc Charger Use the original OnePlus adapter and USB cable to charge. If the interface shows "PASS" and jumps to the next test, the function is good;
11 Headset in-out plug test Enter the headset test interface, when it is recognized that the headset is plugged in, it is a good product
12 Sensor Self-test and Calibration When the phone enters into the Sensor self-calibration interface, the phone must be placed on the desk flatly. Then click the first calibration item. After the test is passed, it will automatically jump to the next test item;
13 Gyroscope Take the mobile phone to draw the "8" word graphic. If the interface shows "PASS" and jumps to the next test, the function is good;
14 MSensor Shake the phone from the left to the right side. If the interface shows "PASS" and jumps to the next test, the function is good;
15 Proximity Test Use the palm to cover the light sensor hole, and the screen will turn green from black. If the interface shows "PASS" and jumps to the next test, the function is good;
16 Button test Press the power key and volume key one by one. If keys can be pressed normally and the interface jumps to the next test, the function is good;
17 Finger print Auto Test If the interface shows "PASS" and jumps to the next test, the function is good;
18 Media test Click the "20-4K(-3db)signal" to test the sound of the media function for 5s. If there is no silence, weak sound, noises, and breaking sound, the interface shows "PASS" and jumps to the next test, the function is good;
19 Call test If the phone has been installed with the operator's SIM card, dial the corresponding operator's phone number. If no card is installed, call the 112 to test (Calling the Operator is recommended). If the call can be performed normally and the receiver is without noises or weak sounds, the function is good;
20 NFC test Connect the NFC card reader to the computer. After the phone automatically selects the SIM1 simulation(5s), move the phone's rear camera area close to the NFC card reader, and the card reader's signal light changes from red to green with a beep sound.

After the above 20 items are tested, they will prompt to the test result interface. If the test PASS, project will show "√"; If the test FAIL, project will show "×" as shown below.
