Overview - Part 2

  1. Strip film holder retainer
  2. Strip film holder
  3. Diffusion plate
  4. Copier rail
  5. Slide holder
  6. Bellows fixing frame lever

Assembly

  1. Remove the stopper screw from the end of the X shaped rail of the Auto Bellows. In it's place, screw in the Slide Copier stopper screw.
  2. Remove the slide copier bellows from the slide copier. You can remove the copier bellows completely from the slide fixing base by raising the levers on both sides of the slide fixing frame.
  3. Slightly tilt the lens side of the bellows which has been removed, align the white dot on the lens attaching frame with the white dot on the front body of the lens. Then attach the copier bellows to the filter bayonet flange on the front face of the lens.
  4. The copier bellows is held compressed by two internal push-in connectors and easily released by pulling the bellows frames apart using the side tabs. Then pull the bellows fixing frame towards the slide copier fixing base. When doing this it is easier if the lens mounting board is moved near the end of the auto-bellows rail.
  5. The assembly of the slide copier is complete when the bellows has been extended and again attached to the slide copier fixing base.
  6. When the lens is reversed, attach the copier bellows to the front plate of the reversed auto-bellows lens board.

Operation

  1. Pull out the slide holder as shown in illustration #1. Remove the 35mm slide holder from inside it.
  2. Place the original negative, or positive, to be reproduced into the slide holder with the base side of the film toward the camera.
  3. Unclip the film strip holder, containing the diffusion plate, and open it to remove the strip film holder from the slide copier. This holder can be removed easily by pushing it up with your fingers.
  4. Preparation is complete when the diffusion plate is tipped back in place and locked.
  5. When using strip film negatives or positives, remove the 35mm size support frame attached to the strip film holder.
  6. Using the 6x7 strip film holder possition the film using the film guide screws and then the strip film holder into place and close the diffusion plate.
  7. Gtj The slide holder, as a unit, can be moved slightly to align the target film. Adjustment to correct the positioning for partial copying can be made by shifting the slide holder, containing the film to be copied, up or down while looking through the viewfinder.
  8. Since the photographing position is indicated on the slide copier rail at intervals of 0.5x magnification from zero to three times magnification, you can move the slide copier according to the desired magnification and set it with the stopper screw.

Note: The scale of magnification is base on a standard lens of 105mm F2.4.
  9. When a particular magnification is not required, you can focus most accurately by adjusting the slide holder to the desired scale of magnification and then moving the camera body back and forth for precise focusing.

35mm Slide Duplication

The operation for duplicating a 35mm slide is identical with the duplication of a 6x7 slide other than the 35mm slide insert must be used.

  1. Pull out the 6x7 slide holder and insert the 35mm slide holder into it and push down.
  2. Place the 35mm slide to be reproduced into the slide holder with the base side of the film toward the camera. At this time you should remove the strip film holding frame, behind the diffuser.
  3. When using a 35mm strip film strip, remove the 35mm insert from the slide holder, and use the 35mm insert in the strip film holding frame (see illustration #5).
Simply hold the film strip between the strip film holding frame and the closed diffuser.

Illumination

Light Sources:

  • Since a built in diffusion plate (milky white) is provided at the end of the slide copier, direct sunlight can be used as the source of illumination. When using a lamp as a light source, be sure the illumination is even.
  • When copying a colour slide with daylight-type colour film, use daylight as a light source. Otherwise the result will have a reddish, bluish or greenish tone. If you wish to use a lamp as the source of illumination, use a blue lamp (daylight colour).
  • Colour slide viewing boxes using fluorescent lamps are not suitable as a light source for photographing with colour films.
  • When using outdoor light as a light source, avoid cloudy days because this results in a bluish tone. Even the use of a filter for cloudy conditions will not correct this.
