RECEIVER
MAINTENANCE
1.
GENERAL

· The interim production will be coded
X403A-type.
1.01
This section describes replacement procedures
for components of Data Set 403A-type to
maintain the data set. It does not include
information concerning the business machine used
with the data set.
1.02
This section is reissued to change the rating
from AT&TCo Special to AT&TCo Standard.
1.03
No routine maintenance of the data set is
required.
1.04
For a detailed description of the Data Set
403A-type, refer to CD and SD-1D072-0l.
1.05
Maintenance of the data set on the customer' s
premises should be limited to testing with
the data test center, or replacing a defective data
set; however, the following information is provided
so that the data set can be repaired if desired.
1.06
Maintenance of the Power Supply (j87258Al
Ll) unit is limited to complete unit replacement.
1.08
When test, or demonstration calls are made,
refer to section entitled Crediting Charges
on Test Calls (010-250..:001) for the proper procedure
for crediting charges.

TESTING
2.01
Refer to section entitled Data Set 403A-Type
Receiver, Identification and Operation
(594-023-100) for cover removal and replacement
procedures
2.02
Before proceeding with lfata set repair,
perform the following:
(1) Refer to the Data Test Center for a loop-back
test. Check op frequencies and levels from
the transmitting station, check for central office
trouble, etc.
(2) Confirm that customer equipment is operating
properly. ·
(3) Confirm that Data Auxiliary Set 804C 630-
or 631-type telephone sets are properly
operating.
(4) Check for cord and connector defects. Check
that the power source (117V, 60 llz) ground
exists. ·

Printed board assembly repair is limited to
complete assembly replacement. Refer to
section entitled Data Set 403A-Type Receiver
Identification and Operation (594-023-100) for
identification and description of the printed boards.

repair or replacement on this assembly.
