Ÿ
Before every use, the user shall inspect the equipment following the inspection guidelines below.
Ÿ
The safety of the user depends upon the continued efficiency and durability of the equipment, therefore an additional
thorough periodic inspection is required by an independent competent person familiar with inspecting this type of
equipment.
Ÿ
The frequency of examination and inspection must take into account legislation, equipment type, frequency of use
and environmental conditions. Through examinations must be carried out by a competent person every 6 months
and the results and date of the inspection must be recorded.
Ÿ
The equipment must be totally retired from use after a maximum of 3 years after the date of first use. This date is for
guidance purposes only. By misuse it is possible to destroy this product during its first use
Storage
Ÿ
The lanyard should be coiled loosely avoiding twisting or kinks.
Ÿ
Allow to dry naturally away from direct sources of heat. Rinse and/or wipe off any build up of dirt and grit.
Ÿ
The equipment may be cleaned with a mild detergent not exceeding 30°C, and must be rinsed afterwards in clean
warm water.
Ÿ
Store in a clean, dry area and away from direct source of heat, or any potentially sharp or abrasive objects such as
knives or tools.
Ÿ
Avoid contact with strong acids or alkali, solvents, chemicals, excessive heat and/or sparks, UV exposure, and salt
water.
Inspection
Ÿ
Sheaf - check for cuts, tears, abrasion, scorch marks, burns, chemical attack or severely discoloured patches. Local
abrasion, distinct from general wear is often caused by passage of the rope over sharp and/or abrasive edges, and
may cause serious loss of strength. Slight damage and scuffing to outer fibres may be considered safe, however
more serious levels of abrasion to the outer sheaf such as more than 3 broken strands or cut strands are visible on
the sheaf or if two adjacent strands are compromised the product should be retired from use. Reduction in width or
thickness or serious distortion of the weave pattern must lead to immediate retirement from use.

Wire - Any signs of wire abrasion, broken strands, strands penetrating the outer sheaf or kinks within the wire can
cause serious failure of the product and must be retired from use immediately.
Ÿ
Terminations - Check for any wear on the thimbles or signs of damage. Inspect the crimps for any free movement or
slippage of the outer sheaf - Immediately retirement from use if present.

Modification & repair
Ÿ
This equipment must never be modified or repaired as it will compromise the products integrity.
Records
Ÿ
When using the equipment for the first time, ensure that the first part of the product record card is completed and the
date of first use is recorded.
Ÿ
Ensure that the equipment is inspected at regular intervals dependent upon frequency of use. Details of all inspections
must be recorded in the spaces provided on the record card.

It is essential for the safety of the user that if the product is resold outside the original Country of destination that the
reseller shall provide instructions for use, for maintenance, for periodic examination and for repair in the language of
the Country in which the product is to be used.
