The TrueSense* for Process Crude Overhead Monitoring System (COMS) and Quench Water Enhanced System Treatment (QWEST) were designed by Veolia Water Technologies to effectively measure pH from the Overhead Atmospheric Tower, and other similar processes in a Refinery or Chemical Plant, including quench water systems.
Page 11
COMS & QWEST Gen 3 Owners and Maintenance Manual The analyzer is prepared to receive signals from other analyzers that measure process such as Chlorides, Ammonia and Iron. The pH signal enters the air-purged electronic enclosure. The pH signal is then fed into the pH Controller The pH Controllers are used to calibrate the pH sensors, displaying the pH and temperature data and are used for troubleshooting the pH probe sensor.
COMS & QWEST Gen 3 Owners and Maintenance Manual 1.2 Fluidics A side stream from the boot water pump, or other source, is connected to the inlet of the analyzer using a 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) OD stainless steel tubing .
COMS & QWEST Gen 3 Owners and Maintenance Manual 1.3 Veolia Gateway The unit is equipped with a cellular gateway for uploading data from COMS & QWEST and uploading to our InSight* asset performance management platform. 1.4 Purge Unit The air-purged electronics enclosure is equipped with a Z type purge system that enables the electronics enclosure to operate in a hazardous environment.
COMS & QWEST Gen 3 Owners and Maintenance Manual 1.5 Cooling The COMS & QWEST unit is equipped with a cooler that uses air to cool off the electronics due to heat generation. The cooler has a mechanical thermostat that is switched on when temperature is above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2°C) and switches off when temperature is dropped below 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21°C).
COMS & QWEST Gen 3 Owners and Maintenance Manual 1.6 Output Capability The COMS & QWEST unit can provide up to six 4-20mA active analog outputs enabling the system to control remote devices such as pumps stroke controllers. Connection to these devices is made from intrinsic safe barriers ISB7, ISB8 and ISB9.
