Tone (button 1), Volume (button 2), Speed (button 3) There are two keys each for the tone, volume and speed levels. Use these to adjust levels up and down. Those new to audiobooks may prefer a slower speed or find a different tone of voice easier to hear.
Up (button 4), Down (button 5), Left (button 6), Right (button 7) The structure of an audiobook reflects the lay- out of the original print book. A book may be divided into parts, chapters, sections and sub- sections. In an audiobook this structure is represented by levels which allow users to ‘flip through the pages’...
Information (button 8) Press the info key to hear details about the player (eg: version/model/serial number). If you are listening to a book and press the info key you will hear title details (eg: title, current position, page, time elapsed, time remaining, total number of pages or number of books on the file and total time).
Bookmarks (button 10) The bookmark key marks positions in the book so you can return to them later. This works if you are reading two or more books at once. To place a bookmark, press and hold the book- mark key. Each bookmark you place is given a number.
Eject (button 11) This Victor Reader Status4 M player is preload- ed with digital titles so no audiobook DAISY discs are needed. It does have the capability to play DAISY discs and to insert one, gently slide it into the slot at the bottom of the play- er until it is pulled into the player.
Rewind (button 13), Fast Forward (button 15) Located on either side of the play/stop key, these keys allow you to move through the book quickly. Press the keys once to jump 5 seconds forward or backward. The time will accelerate the longer you hold the key down. For each few seconds you hold the keys you will move forward or backward 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes and so on.
Sleep (button 16) You can set a timer for the player to turn off. This key will voice the setting of OFF, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. When the sleep function is on a light will turn on above the key. External connections On the right side of the player is the ear- phones jack, which can also be used for an ex- ternal speaker. Next to it, you will find a USB port and SD card slot. On the back side of the player, slightly to the right of center, you will find the power input jack.
Playing a preloaded audiobook Step 1: Take player out of the case. Place it flat on a table with the open handle on the bottom left and the round speaker at the top left. This ensures the buttons are in the cor- rect position for easy manipulation.

The flash in- dicates that the battery is recharging. When it stops flashing, the battery is fully charged. You can use the Victor Reader Stratus4 M while charging the battery. Step 4: After several seconds you will hear a welcome message.

Step 5: To hear all the titles, press the left and right arrow keys in the middle of the play- er to toggle between each title name. Step 6: When you hear the name of the title you wish to listen to, press the play/stop button which is the square button in the mid- dle at the bottom of the player.

Step 8: If you do not finish listening to the title in one sitting, simply press the play/stop button to stop the book. Then press the pow- er button to turn the player off. You will hear 2 beeps and the green light will turn off. Step 9: When you wish to resume listening to the book, turn the player on.

Playback Buttons You can pause and resume reading by pressing the play/stop key, which is located at the bottom center of the player between the re- wind and forward keys. If at any time you need something repeated - press the rewind key once. It will take you back 10 seconds in the recording.

Navigating through a magazine If there are magazines loaded on your player, they will be listed on the bookshelf. It is not a separate list from the book title list. The mag- azine title will include information about the issue number and publisher information. This will be followed by information on how to use the publication.
