    GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES Safety of the operator is one of the main concerns in designing and developing a new piece of equipment. Designers and manufacturers build in as many safety features as possible. However, every year many accidents occur which could have been avoided by a few seconds of thought and a more careful approach to handling equipment.

     Do not attempt to mount a tire unless you have the proper equipment and experience to do the job.  Inflating or servicing tires can be dangerous. Whenever possible, trained personnel should be called to service and/or mount tires. ...

    DURING OPERATION  Children should not be allowed on the product.  Clear the area of small children and bystanders before moving the feeder.  Securely attach feeder to towing unit, using a hardened 3/4” pin, a metal retainer, and safety chains if required.

    HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORT OPERATIONS  Adopt safe driving practices:  Keep the brake pedals latched together at all times. NEVER USE INDEPENDENT BRAKING WITH MACHINE IN TOW AS LOSS OF CONTROL AND/OR UPSET OF UNIT CAN RESULT.  Always drive at a safe speed relative to local conditions and ensure that your speed is low enough for an emergency stop to be safe and secure.

     Avoid loose fill, rocks and holes; they can be dangerous for equipment operation or movement.  Allow for unit length when making turns.  Operate the towing vehicle from the operator’s seat only.  Never stand alongside of unit with engine running or attempt to start engine and/or operate machine while standing alongside of unit.

    SECTION A- SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE Improper practices or carelessness can cause bodily injury or death. Always instruct the operator in the proper operating procedures. The operator must read and understand all safety instructions in the Owner’s – Operator’s Manual and in the cab of the JackRunner prior to operating the JackRunner.

    MAINTENANCE MATERIALS SPECIFICATIONS Use only JackRabbit parts for warranty protection and maximum performance. 1. Engine Oil: 15W – 40 Multi-viscosity motor oil. (See Operation Manual for special conditions). 2. Engine Oil Filter: JackRabbit #28973 Fleetguard #LF3970 Capacity 10 quarts – 9.5 liters (with filter change).

    SECTION C- CONTROLS 1. STEERING The JackRunner steering is a non-reactive type (won’t automatically return to center). This provides positive control while driving in both directions. 2. DIRECTION AND SPEED CONTROL The foot operated pedals provide direction, speed control and braking. The arrows show the direction of travel when the pedal is depressed.

  • Page 19 21. HYDRAULIC OIL: Sight gauge on hydraulic oil tank. 22. DIESEL FUEL: Gauge on top of diesel fuel tank. 23. HYDRAULIC OIL SHUTOFF VALVES: Two valves are located on right side of hydraulic oil tank. These valves are used to stop oil loss when changing hydraulic oil filters.

    SECTION D- OPERATING PROCEDURES Do not allow anyone to operate the JackRuner who has not been properly trained in its safe operation. After an extended shutdown period (30 days) or after an engine oil change make sure the engine receives the correct oil flow. See Engine Operation and Maintenance Manual. CHECK POINTS BEFORE USE 1.

    RPM to idle. LET ENGINE IDLE FOR 1-2 MINUTES THEN TURN OFF ENGINE. Using the complete JackRabbit system: 1. The JackRunner engine should be warmed up (3 to 4 minutes prior to full RPM operation). 2. Advance engine throttle to full RPM and use the foot pedal to control speed.

    SECTION E - MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES AND SCHEDULE WHEN SERVICING THE JACKRUNNER USE YELLOW SAFETY BAR TO SECURE BIN IN RAISED POSITION. Before doing any service or maintenance work on the engine take the time to review your ENGINE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL. It provides additional technical information you will need to correctly service and maintain the JackRuner engine.

    MAINTENANCE AT 250 HOURS OR 3 MONTHS 1. Inspect engine air filter system (See Pages 50 - 51). See Maintenance Materials Specifications (Page 4) for replacement engine air filters. 2. Inspect air intake system. Inspect the intake piping for cracked hoses, loose clamps or punctures.

    STORAGE OFF-SEASON Wash and clean chassis and cab. Clean all air filters and re-install. Change engine oil and oil filter. Fill diesel tank. Fill hydraulic oil tank (oil level between bottom and top sight gauge). Air tires. Inspect belts, hoses and general appearance of engine and chassis. Repair or replace items that show wear or damage.
