STAR MODEM™

General Description

The new STAR Modem™ is an industrial radio modem that enables wireless
communication between Datalogic narrow band RF devices and a host system. In a
basic point-to-point configuration, it transmits via radio any terminated string
received through its RS232 port and vice versa.
To satisfy different user needs and cover a wide range of applications,
STAR Modem™ makes it possible for any wired RS232 device to become wireless:
bar code printers, industrial scales, industrial scanners can send/receive data to/from
the Datalogic STAR-System™ like a RF device, exploiting all the benefits of the most
powerful RF Narrow band solution for Mobile applications. It can work with:
Gryphon™ M, Dragon™ M and all the Formula Basic Line RF Terminals.
Robustness and reliability, together with real-time communication are key features
that make the STAR Modem™ unique. Many processes in the Manufacturing
industry as well as in the Distribution & Retail Industry, take place in harsh environ-
ments: STAR Modem™, specifically conceived for tough industrial use, can oper-
ate in all environmental conditions including in outdoor applications without com-
promising its functionalities.
Furthermore, STAR Modem™ has been conceived for forklift applications and,
therefore, it can be mounted on a forklift without compromising its performances,
resisting vibrations and any mechanical stress, demonstrated by several tests that
have been successfully executed. The concept of total mobility is further exploited by
the Automatic Roaming function.
Thanks to its small size, its adjustable antenna and the brackets included,
STAR Modem™ guarantees the best positioning according to your application
needs, even in the most critical places, without any restriction.
