    Page 1 28000 System General Information Introduction This manual provides information about installing and maintaining the Precision 28000 transducer conditioner/amplifier system. The 28000 system operates under control of PF 28000 graphical user interface (GUI) software. Operating instructions for the GUI are contained in the 28000 System Programming Instructions manual.

    Page 2 System Overview The Precision 28000 series is a family of mainframes, controller cards, and signal condition- ing and amplifier cards forming signal conditioning systems that are suitable for use as stand- alone or remote test and instrumentation systems. The system can be tailored for high-speed transient applications, static applications, or a combination of these.

    The tests check out all critical system specifications, are NIST trace- able and are the same manufacturing tests that are run at the factory. The Precision 28000-?-TEST test subsystem consists of a high-performance digital multi- meter, a function generator, rack-mount adapters for the devices, and a cable set. The 28000 test software controls both the digital multimeter and functional generator via an Ethernet interface.

    If a shipping container has been damaged in any way, have the carrier’s agent present when the equipment is unpacked. If the equipment is damaged, file a claim with the carrier and forward a copy to Precision Filters. Retain the shipping container and packing material for the carrier’s inspection or for reuse if the unit requires servicing or repair.

    2.4.3 Shipment Requirements Always use the original packing materials to ship system components. You can purchase a new container from Precision Filters if needed. The environmental conditions described in Table 5 must be maintained during shipment.
