SAFETY 5. SAFETY Machine safety The strapping machine SMB CUBE is intended for use as component of a machine system. It requires no additional safety devices. Unintended use, however, may cause injuries. This operating manual contains safety instructions and advice using symbols as follows:...
Restart the machine only according to the operating manual! The machine may only be operated according to its intended use. SMB Schwede Maschinenbau GmbH shall not be liable for any damages resulting from modifications at the machine by the operating party.
SAFETY Dangers resulting from accessory equipment Conveyor belts and other transport devices must not disable the safety devices of the machine. Access to the Emergency Stop switch must be provided at all times. Safety hazards (see also Abbildung 3) The sealing of the strap is executed by heating up the welding plate. Touching it may cause burns.
SAFETY Electric voltage Moving parts (strap arch) Heating plate Rotating part (exterior strap coil) Electric voltage Cables, hoses Abbildung 3: Safety hazards at the machine Description of workstation The working area is positioned at the operating field at the side of the machine. Authorized operating staff Only authorized and trained staff is allowed to work at the strapping machine.
SAFETY The responsibilities for the respective activities must be clearly defined and complied with. Undefined competences imply safety hazards. The operating party has to • Make the operating manual available to operating staff and • Ensure that the operator has read and understood it. Personal safety equipment For cleaning work: wear safety glasses to protect eyes against flying dirt particles.
SAFETY Inspection intervals • At the beginning of every working shift (interrupted operation) • Once a week (non-stop operation) • After each maintenance or repair work 5.11 Emergency procedure In case of an emergency, shut the machine down immediately by turning the main switch from position "I ON"...
