    To ensure the optimal performance of this product, please take the time to read this manual carefully. The TD Navio device is a Tobii Dynavox Speech Generating Device (SGD) intended for use as an augmentative communication aid for those with speech, language, physical, and cognitive disabilities.

    TD Navio Mini TD Navio Midi and TD Navio Maxi Lift the Foldable Leg to access the product label. Intended Use The TD Navio is intended primarily as a speech generating device. The TD Navio is intended to provide, and act as, a compliment for everyday communication for people who have challenges in their ability to speak due to injury, disability or illness.

    It is recommended to keep the original packaging materials for the TD Navio. If the device needs to be returned to Tobii Dynavox for warranty-related issues or repair, it is beneficial that the original packaging or equivalent is used for shipping. Most shipping carriers require at least 2 inches of packing material around the device.

    Nevertheless, in order to ensure safe operation of your TD Navio, there are a few safety warnings to bear in mind: No modification of this equipment is allowed. Repairs to a Tobii Dynavox device must only be performed by Tobii Dynavox or a Tobii Dynavox authorized and approved repair center.
  • Page 10: Power Supply And Batteries

    TD Navio device. For safe operation of the TD Navio device, use only the charger and accessories approved by Tobii Dynavox. The batteries are only to be changed by Tobii Dynavox personnel or specified designees. Replacement of lithium batteries or fuel cells by inadequately trained personnel could result in a hazardous situation.

    If the Power Supply Cord is damaged, it needs to be replaced by Service Personnel only. Do not use the Power Supply Cord until replaced. Disconnect the AC power plug of the Power adapter from the wall socket when not charging the device and disconnect the power cable from the device.

Remote management, also known as MDM, allows Tobii Dynavox to send software and software updates to your iPad over Wi-Fi. Through remote management Tobii Dynavox will only have access to information about your iPad hardware specifications, OS version, installed apps, and security settings.

    The battery may need to be replaced every 12 to 18 months with typical use. Don’t try to replace the battery yourself. The battery is internal and is not intended for service or replacement by the user or anyone other than a Tobii Dynavox technician. For battery storage and charging temperatures, see 6.2.2 Transportation and Storage, page 20.

    Using the TD Navio Starting the TD Navio To start the TD Navio press the Power button, see 3.2.2 Ports, Sensors, and Device Buttons, page 14 for reference. The TD Navio is designed to remain powered on. Powering Down the TD Navio To power down the TD Navio follow these steps: Hold down the Power button and one of the volume buttons (either one doesn’t matter) at the same time, see 3.2.2 Ports, Sensors, and Device Buttons, page 14 for reference.

    Flip the TD Navio 180° over with the screen facing up. Align the hooks on the top of the front piece of the Protective Case with the top of the TD Navio. Squeeze around the edges to click it together. Place the TD Navio with the face down on a flat surface.

    Product Care Expected Service Life The expected service life of the TD Navio and power adapter is 5 years.
