PiCUS Calliper 3 Hardware Manual Digital Calliper for Accurate Geometry Determination of Tree Cross Sections With Passion and Precision IML Electronic GmbH Erich-Schlesinger-Straße 49D 18059 Rostock | Germany This Manual is for: Telefon: +49 0381 – 49681440 Hardware: PiCUS Calliper 3 Firmware: v.31...
Bluetooth Tree Point: Each nail in the tree is a tree point. The geometry of the measurement plane, which is measured using the PiCUS Calliper 3, is defined by the tree points. Further information can be found in the instructions for PC software and the app: vX.X_IML_Tree_Inspection_Manual_XX.pdf.
2 Introduction 2.1 Field of Application The PiCUS Calliper 3 (PCA 3) is a measuring device used to measure distances. It is primarily used for accurate triangulation measurements to determine the positions of tree points (TP) during tomography measurements. Triangulation measurements with the PCA 3 make it possible to measure even complex tree cross-sections accurately and quickly.
3 Operation 3.1 PCA 3 - Components The PCA 3 consists of these parts, which can be assembled according to the desired working range. Arm extensions (right / left) Measuring points (right / left, folded in) Arms (right / left) Buttons with display (right / left) µController with display Charging port...
3.1.1 Transport Case The PCA 3 fits in the disassembled state in the transport case of the PST 3 or PTT 3. The positioning in the case is identical for both tomographs. The orange hammer cable is also used to charge the PCA 3 and is stored in one of the cable pockets in the lid.
3.2 Start Up 3.2.1 Charging Before using the PCA 3, please ensure it has sufficient battery charge. For example, charge it overnight before the next use. To charge it, connect the hammer cable of the tomograph to the charging port of the PCA 3, as shown in the image.
3.2.2 Working Range Selection The PCA 3 can be assembled in a short (upper image) or long form (lower image). The short version covers a working range from 0 to 1630 mm. The long version extends from 0 to 2150 mm. The Calliper automatically detects which version is mounted when turned on. If the arms are mounted after turning on, the Calliper DOES NOT recognize the length of the arms.

3.2.3.1 Operating mode: PiCUS mode In this mode, the Calliper waits for connection to a PC, mobile device, or a tomograph (PST 3 or PTT 3), typically via BT. If there are disruptions in radio communication due to external influences, the PCA 3 can also be connected to the PST 3 or PTT 3 using the hammer cable as shown (as is also the case when charging the PCA 3).
The PCA 3 is a measuring device that contains sensitive components. The PCA 3 may only be serviced by the manufacturer, IML Electronic GmbH. If the device is opened by unauthorized individuals, or if components or accumulators not approved for installation by IML Electronic GmbH are used, all warranty claims will be void.
