The DS702 ultrasonic flaw detector is designed to perform non destructive inspections on industrial and commercial materials.Only use the DS702 unit with an external charger approved by EECI to charge the batteries.
1.4 Technical Requirements Every ultrasonic test is subject to specific technical test requirements. The most important ones are: - the definition of the scope of inspection - the choice of the appropriate test method - the consideration of material properties It is the task of the those with overall responsibility for testing to ensure that the operator is fully informed about these requirements.

Requirements: Min. 2points, Max 10points. Different colors for multiple curves.(optional) Before recording a DAC curve the instrument must be correctly calibrated. Signals obtained from a test piece of identical material can then be compared to the curve for determination of the size of the flaw in relation to the reference reflector.
Page 52
6.12 Flexi DGS D','G', and 'S'of the DGS Scales stands for 'Distance', 'Gain' and 'Size'. Size refers to the diameter of a disc shaped reflector, which would produce the same indication on the screen as that of an actual discontinuity of unknown size. The DGS Scales enables one to adjust the instrument gain to an appropriate value at hich the amplitude of various size of disc shaped discontinuities and their changes with respect to increasing distance from the test surface are plotted as curves.
Page 53
Range: • Once the DGS scale is plotted and displayed on screen, user can change the range if required. The distance range mentioned in the below column is the distance along the beam path for normal and angle probes. The minimum and maximum range for each DGS scale is listed below. Sr.No.
Page 54
How to Use DGS Scales • INITIAL CHECK : For the correct use of the DGS Scale, the instrument should have a valid calibration certificate. Operation: • Before loading DGS Scale, operator has to select required colour scheme. Select required scale plot DGS as given above.
Page 55
Through Transmission Echo From V1 • b. For 4 Mhz Angle Probes Because of the pronounced difference in attenuation between the V1 block and the test specimen for 4 MHz Angle Probes, two curve (V1 and TL) are shown on the DGS Scale. To determine the transfer loss adjust a through transmission indication peak to coincide with V1, curve (using two identical probes across 25mm of V1 block).Without changing this gain, observe the peak of a similarly obtained indication from the test specimen.
Page 56
To Assess the Flaw Size In actual test, when an indication from a discontinuity appears on the screen, the height of the indication is maximized. When the peak of this indication coincides with a curve on the DGS Scale, the equivalent reflector size is that given for the curve at the top of the scale. When the peak does not coincide with any curve, but lies in between two curves, the equivalent reflector size is extrapolated from the adjacent curves.
