RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 Figure 2: LCD Display Typical start up sequence is shown below: Figure 3: Typical Start-Up Sequence 4.3 Measurement method The WaveRadar REX is a two / three-wire transmitter for continuous level measurements over water.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 The frequency of the reflected signal is subtracted from the frequency of the signal transmitted at that moment, resulting in a low frequency signal which is proportional to the distance to the product surface.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 Illustrated over time: Faster data rates of up to 10 output bursts per second can be configured, but there may be some timing offsets incurred within each 1 second period.
0000. This is the only status indication. In the event of any permanent or regular change of the status word from normal, please contact RS Aqua Ltd. * The REX message string has 2 null bytes appended to the end of each string, sometimes known as dribble bytes.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 The following diagram demonstrates hold off and reference height: Figure 5: Measurement Parameters Each WaveRadar REX is supplied with a setup application, WaveConfigurator. This can be used to set the range, burst output rate, hold off distance and has a diagnostics function.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 5.1.1 Connection 1. Check comm port and baud rate are correct. If you are not sure, baud rate and comms settings display on WaveRadar REX² LCD during start up. The configurator and Rex 4800 by default.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 3. Sampling Frequency is the output rate from the WaveRadar REX² and can be configured between 2-10Hz. Up to 5Hz, the output is synchronised with the range measurement and this is the recommended operating mode.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 5.1.5 Spectra Graph 1. The Spectra Graph is useful for diagnostics and allows the user to visualise the returns from the radar. 2. The hold off distance is shown as a blue dotted line.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 The WaveRadar REX should be mounted directly over the water mass being measured with a clear view of the water. Any obstructions have the potential to be detected by the WaveRadar which may lead to invalid measurements.
RS Aqua Ltd WaveRadar REX Operating Manual Issue A – May 2020 If the WaveRadar REX needs to have the datum match that of a standard legacy WaveRadar REX, the calibration offset should be set to -0.102. This effectively moves the datum upwards by 102mm.
