(6) months. All sheet metal cladding applied to the VersaTube frame are attached with self drilling screws with a rubber washer. These screws produce small shavings when drilling through the cladding. If the shavings are al- lowed to sit on the sheet metal for an extended period, rust spots will form and promote deterioration.
Tools Needed ATTENTION: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE FOLLOWING NOTE BEFORE STARTING THE ASSEMBLY OF YOUR SHELTER NOTE: If during the installation process you have difficulty fitting frame components together, use an adjustable wrench to open the end of the receiving tube as shown below.

Note: The VersaTube carport is designed to be placed on a foundation that is level side-to-side and sloped about 1” front- to-back or back-to-front. Concrete Piers are suggested for this structure. The piers are installed at the same time as the base rail assembly below.

Frame Assembly (continued) (IF STRUCTURE IS 14’H, SKIP TO PAGE 10) STEP 2: ROOF/WALL FRAME ASSEMBLY On the ground, assemble two side posts, one peak and two rafters. If the structure is taller than 7’H, also assemble two height extensions. If the structure is wider than 20’W, use two Rafter Extensions between the rafter and peak. Measure across the frame assembly at the top, just below the bends and at the bottom.

Frame Assembly (continued) STEP 2: ROOF/WALL FRAME ASSEMBLY On the ground, assemble two posts, two 72” height extensions, two eave corners, one peak and two rafters (2x4x29 3/8 or 2x4x41 3/4”). Measure across the frame assembly at the top, just below the bends and at the bottom. Set the frame width (14’W or 16’W) to the desired width.
Frame Assembly (continued) STEP 2a: ATTACHING THE EAVE CORNER BRACKETS Corner brackets must be installed on all side post corners (eave corners). The corner brackets will come in the kit in the straight form and must be folded to fit the eave corner. Fold the bracket, place it on the side post corner, make sure that it is flush with both surfaces and fasten the bracket on both sides of the assembly with 4 framing screws per side.
Truss Brace Assembly (continued) TYPE 3, 5 OR 6 TRUSS BRACE On the ground, assemble one 74-8650 Center Stringer, two HE-4-2 Collar Tie Extensions, two end pieces, Left and Right Collar Tie Brackets (BK-60/61, 2 of each if 30’W). Slide the swages of the 74-8650 into one end of the collar tie extensions, then slide the end pieces on each side.
Truss Brace Assembly (continued) TYPE 4 TRUSS BRACE On the ground, assemble one 74-8650 Center Stringer, two HE-4-2 Collar Tie Extensions, two end pieces, Left and Right Collar Tie Brackets (BK-60/61, 2 of each if 30’W). Slide the swages of the 74-8650 into one end of the collar tie extensions, then slide the end pieces on each side.
Structure Assembly STEP 3: MARKING FRAMES AND ATTACHING FRAME SECTIONS TO THE BASE RAILS Before attaching the frames to the base rails, refer back to page 7 to the roof purlin spacing diagram. While the frames are stacked, make a mark 1” in from each Bk-40 Eave Side Bracket. Then make a mark at the spacing shown on page 7 for the correct building width.
Anchoring ANCHORING STRUCTURE Move the base rails back into position over the holes. Re-measure to make sure the rails are in the proper location. Measure diagonals to square frame. The diagonal measurements should be equal. Now drop or drive a 30” rebar ground anchor into each anchor hole.

Installing Roof Purlins STEP 2: INSTALLING THE BYPASS PURLINS Refer to the chart at the bottom of page 7 to determine how many 75-08800-S475 Swaged Purlins will be needed to complete each run. Refer to the chart at the top of page 7 to determine what length end purlin will be used. Collect all pieces needed for each run.
Installing Roof Sheet Metal STEP 1: INSTALLING THE ROOF PANELS Flip the first panel over to the underside and make a mark at 3 7/16” from the end. This mark will line the panel up with the roof purlin run. Place the panel at the front end of the purlin run. Clamp the panel in place once it is in position. Attach the panel to the purlin runs with painted sheet metal screws (with rubber washers).
Installing Gable Angle Trim STEP 3: INSTALLING RAKE/GABLE TRIM The 12' Residential Rake Trim will need to be angle cut on the end that will be at the peak. You can choose to not angle cut at all. Cut to fit if necessary. If multiple pieces are needed, start at the eave and work up to the peak. Place a screw on top at each roof purlin.
