    OPERATING ELEMENTS Measuring microphone with electret condenser microphone capsule. If you operate at wind speed over 10 m/sec, please use the protective windscreen included in the delivery. Display Button for switching on and off. Level buttons ▲▼ for selecting the measuring range 30-80 dB, 40- 90 dB, 50-100 dB, 60-110 dB, 70-120 dB, 80-130 dB or 30-130 dB.

  • Page 6 MEASURING Insert four 1.5 V batteries as indicated in the battery compartment or connect a 6 V power unit. Then switch on the meter with the button. An indication is displayed. If the display indicates the battery symbol, the batteries are exhausted and must be replaced. For measuring, hold the device horizontally with the microphone pointing to the sound source.

    Remove the battery cover and make the following settings: weighting filter A, measuring mode FAST, measuring range 60 to 110 dB. Place the microphone of the SLM-500 as far as possible into the calibrator’s calibration chamber. Switch on the calibrator and check the indication on the SLM-500’s display.
