It will allow you to learn about editing faster without having to remember all the combinations of shortcuts. For others, the JD 1 will allow you to customize some shortcuts elimi- nating the hassle of moving back and forth from the mouse to the keyboard. -

CHAPTER: 3 Functions The LED will indicate the current status. (When lit it signi- fies: Deck, Jog or Shuttle control). Capture button will capture in the Batch Capture Window of editing applications. Mark In and Mark Out will mark the In and Out points in the timeline as well as in the Batch Capture Window. -

CHAPTER: 3 Functions Custom mappable buttons Key Setting Dialog Application Pull down Menu’s Programmable buttons First click on the Application pull down menu and select the corresponding Edit application you are using. The buttons will have default presets. You can custom map these but- tons by clicking on each button and setting the functions for that button in the Key Setting Dialog. - Page 23 CHAPTER: 3 Functions Click on the first button on the JD 1 application (1), you’ll notice that it has a default setting in place (ctrl+3) with the function “scale to 1 second” (2). Click on clear (3). You now can change its functions simply by changing the com- binations in the dialog box.
- Page 24 CHAPTER: 3 Functions Make sure you do not add two or more different combina- tions for any one button. You can also customize the other buttons to do shortcuts instead of using the keyboard. Do not do this.

In shuttle mode, you can control the playback speed. You can play forward or reverse from 1/4 up to 40x. Below are commands for Canopus Storm Edit and Rex Edit. Raptor Edit and Ez Edit do not have some of these functions. -
