Introduction
The present manual is a guide to configure and install radiomodems to LSI LASTEM instruments. These instructions refer to the following prod-
ucts:

Tab. 1 – Radiomodem types.
To facilitate the user operations, in the USB pendrive MW6501 – LSI LASTEM Products there are some ready to use configuration files. Once
identified the necessary files, open them with supplied program Radio Configurator 32bit and send them to the radiomodems.

To start
For a correct configuration of the radiomodems it is necessary to establish the kind of net they will be connected to and if they are working in low
consumption modality.
2.1
Network types
There are two kinds of nets: one called point-point and one point-multipoint or star-type. In the first case there are two radiomodems: one acting
as central unit (Master) and one acting as peripheral one (Slave). The connection between one PC and one data logger is an example of point-point
net. In case of a multipoint net, instead, there are at least three radiomodems: one is the central unit (Master) and all the others are the peripherals
(Slave). An example of this kind of net is the connection between one PC and different data loggers. The following examples show different kinds
of network:
Fig. 1 - Example of point-point net where the PC is the Master.
Fig. 3 - Example of point-multipoint net where the PC is the Master.
All the radiomodems of a network must operate at the same frequency.
2.2
Power saving mode
In case the radiomodem is powered by solar panels or battery it is recommendable to set the power saving modality. This modality can be applied
only to point-point or point-multipoint nets Slave devices, when the Master radiomodem is connected to a PC (see
data loggers must not have the function Instantaneous values automatic transmission rate enabled. For more information refer to the 3DOM
manual.
If it is necessary to further reduce the energy consumption it is possible to change the configuration parameters Power and PwSava. The first
specifies the power of the output signal. This value, set as 500 mW (High), corresponds to the maximum power. It is possible to reduce it to 150
mW (Mid) or, also, to 25 mW (Low), checking the communication reliability between the devices. The second parameter, instead, specifies the

The value set from LSI LASTEM is 30, corresponding to 3 seconds. It is also possible to reduce this parameter to 10, corresponding to 1 second, in case you don’t send formatting commands of the memory to the data logger (because these commands require long waiting time).
