    The MARINE DATA MD61 Rudder Angle Transmitter provides an IEC61162-1 compliant digital data transmission and a traditional potentiometer output. The digital output is designed to feed the MARINE DATA range of Rudder Angle Indicators, or other certified rudder angle indicators, located at any convenient location on a vessel.

    M4 set screws. Mechanical adjustment of the tiller arm may be required to fine adjust the output of the Rudder Angle Transmitter. Secure the MD61 to its foundation using four M6 fixings (not supplied), one through each of 4 mounting slots. It is recommended to use shake-proof washers or thread-locking compound.

The MD61 is designed to use 24V DC and transmits both a NMEA sentence and a 5KΩ (volt free) potentiometer output. Ensure all incoming supply and signal cables are either: suitably insulated and/or connected, or bonded to the vessel’s earth where appropriate.

    (split-pins or lock-wired nuts) for additional mechanical security. Note: The MD61 transmits data at 1:1 i.e. one degree of rudder rotation equals one degree of transmitter shaft rotation. On completion, sign the vessel’s records to confirm that commissioning checks have been successfully completed.

    Note: The MD61 is a sealed unit and has no user-serviceable parts inside. Breaking the factory seal will invalidate the warranty. Should a fault develop, it must be sent back to MARINE DATA for a full factory service. 12.2 Fault-Finding It is probable that there is a loss of power.
