Evacuation mattress
Safety instructions
• Read these instructions carefully and keep them for
future reference.
• Do not insert sharp objects into the mattress.
• Only use the mattress for its intended purpose as
instructed in this manual.
• Avoid injury by keeping the mattress away from hot
sources or fire.
• Position the mattress carefully and check that the
correct size is used.
• The mattress should be used in such a way that it is
not damaged or crushed.
CE Marking
Stratum Sense Evacuation mattress is CE marked according
to MDR (Medical Device Regulation) (EU) 2017/745 Medical
Device Directive Class 1. With CE marking, COMCO AB ensu-
res that the product meets the requirements of the Medical
Device Act. According to these regulations, we are obliged
to report accidents and incidents involving our products.
We therefore ask you to report to COMCO AB if an accident
or incident involving our products occurs.
Unpacking
Our mattresses are delivered roll-packed/compressed in
recyclable plastic. Before starting to unpack, check that the
mattress is not damaged. Then remove the plastic carefully.
The use of sharp objects for opening should be avoided as
there is a risk of damaging the mattress. After removing the
plastic, the mattress should be placed in a flat position to
recover its normal original shape. The mattress can also be
used immediately after unpacking.
Introduction & Use
The Stratum Sense Evacuation mattress is a replacement
mattress that is placed directly on the bed base. The matt-
ress is equipped with Velcro straps that can be easily pulled
out from each long side to secure the user in an emergency,
and handles to facilitate evacuation/transfer. It is design
protected through the European Union Intellectual Property
Office (EUIPO).
The mattress is designed for the prevention and treat-
ment of pressure ulcers up to category 2. It is divided into
different zones with extra support when used in a raised
position. The foam core is profiled, providing extra mobi-
lity. Foam and cover work together to prevent the negative
impact of shear forces on the user.

A label with the manufacturer's name, washing instruc-
tions, user weight, article number and name, size, and date
of manufacture is placed on the inside of the cover. The top
of the mattress/cover is printed with the manufacturer's
name, product name, position marking, item number, size,
year of manufacture, user weight and serial number.
