Read and understand all instructions and practices provided here before attempting any service, maintenance or repair your K-Tec Land Leveler. • Lower blade to the ground, place all controls in neutral, stop the power unit engine, set park brake, remove igni- tion key, and wait for all moving parts to stop before servicing, adjusting, repairing, or unplugging.
1.6 TIRE SAFETY Pay extreme attention to this section of the manual. Read and understand all instructions and practices provided here before relating to tires on your K-Tec Land Leveler. • Failure to follow proper procedures when mounting a tire on a wheel or rim can produce an explosion which may result in serious injury or death.

This panel identifies the specific hazard with clear and simple language, with instructions of how to avoid hazards. *in the event when spacing is an issue K-Tec will use a 2 panel layout where the hazard severity panel is removed.

These are designed to prevent any accidental injury or death as you are servicing or repairing the Land Leveler when the lift cylinders are up. The K-Tec Land Leveler is designed to cut a shallow layer of higher ground and drag the material to fill in lower spots as the unit moves forward over the work area, the result is a finely leveled working area. Be familiar with the Land Leveler before starting.
2.1 LAND LEVELER COMPONENTS The K-Tec Land Leveler is a large cutting edge that grades and smoothen ridges and lumps. The hitchpole can be fold- ed for easy transportation, and an optional rear hitch can be added to tow any additional accessories.

OPERATION 2.2.1 LAND LEVELER FEATURES CONTINUED TAIL LIGHTS Integrated tail light assembly for roadside transportation and field visibility. * Part of the optional Transport Wheel Kit (304100120 Kit) REAR HITCH* The rear hitch gives the operator the option to haul an additional implement, such as a packer, disc, ripper, or laser cart.
300+ 224+ HITCH: All power units need to be equipped with an Ag Receiver. If you have a K-Tec hitch, contact K-Tec for information on an Ag Receiver adapter for your K-Tec hitch. TIRE CONFIGURATION: Any tire/track combinations can be used on the power unit, see power unit operators manual for recommended tires and options.
OPERATION 2.4 FIRST USE Land Levelers shipped within North America has hydraulics factory oiled, and pressure tested prior to shipping. For Land Levelers shipped to oversea destinations, the hydraulics must be charged and pressure tested prior to use. To charge the hydraulic system, follow this procedure: Park power unit with the correct hitch system and Land Leveler on a level area.
OPERATION 2.5 PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST Efficient and safe operation of the Land Leveler requires that each operator reads and understands the operating procedures and all related safety precautions outlined in this section. A pre-operation checklist is provided for the operator. It is important for both personal safety and maintaining the good mechanical condition of the Land Leveler that this checklist is followed.
OPERATION 2.6 LAND LEVELER BREAK-IN Although there are no operational restrictions on the Land Leveler when used for the first time, it is recommended that the following mechanical items be checked: AFTER OPERATING FOR 5 HOURS, THE FOLLOWING MUST BE FOLLOWED OR WARRANTY WILL BE VOID: Tighten wheel bolts and other fasteners to their specified torque levels.

OPERATION 2.7 HOOKING/UNHOOKING NOTICE HOOKING/UNHOOKING Adjust Follow this procedure to hook up land leveler to power unit: Make sure that all bystanders, especially small children are clear of the working area. Make sure there is enough room and clearance to safely back up to the Land Leveler.

OPERATION 2.8 FOLDING/UNFOLDING FOLDING/UNFOLDING Follow this procedure to unfold and refold the land leveler from road transport mode to field operation. With the land leveler connected to the power unit, Extend the lift cylinder to allow the field wheels to touch the ground. Remove the hitch pin.

OPERATION 2.8 FOLDING/UNFOLDING CONTINUED FOLDING/UNFOLDING Attach the hook and chain to the hitchpole. Tighten the chain with the ratchet binder. Remove the pin at the rear axle and hang it on the transport boot. Lower the leveler. Remove lynch pin. Lower the lift handle down to grab the pin on the transport axle leg.
OPERATION 2.9 FIELD OPERATION Land Levelers are designed to drag a layer of soil from high spots and fill in low spots. Before starting, the operator has the responsibility of being familiar with all operating and safety procedures and following them. Each operator should review this section of the manual at the start of the season and as often as required to be fa- miliar with the Land Leveler.

OPERATION 2.9 FIELD OPERATION CONTINUED GRADING: Drive at 4 to 6 mph (6 to 8 kph) when grading. Lower the cutting edge into the ground when grading. 4-5 Mph NOTICE Use the height gauge on the rear of the unit to indicate the depth of cut. Cut thin slices of dirt when loading to minimize the chance of overloading the power unit.
OPERATION 2.10 OPERATION TIPS NOTE: THIS CYCLE STARTS WITH AN EMPTY LAND LEVELER. Get in the power unit seat and make sure all controls are within comfortable reach. Turn seat to right side. Make sure steering wheel is within comfortable reach. Make sure you know how to shift the transmission up and down as well as in and out of gear.
OPERATION 2.11 TRAILER TRANSPORTATION Follow this procedure when trans- porting Land Leveler on the back of a trailer. This procedure assumes that a 6 Ton crane is available during load- ing and unloading. Park the Land Leveler in a flat open area accessible by a semi trailer.

OPERATION 2.11 TRAILER TRANSPORTATION CONTINUED Remove front transport wheel and axle to shorten the overall width of the Land Leveler. With an appropriately rated lifting equipment. Use the lift hooks provided to lift the Land Leveler onto the trailer. See Specifications for Land Lev- eler weight.

OPERATION 2.12 STORAGE After a season of use, the Land Leveler should be thoroughly inspected and prepared for storage. Repair or replace any worn or damaged components to prevent any unnecessary down time at the start of next season. To ensure a long, trouble free life, this procedure should be followed when preparing the unit for storage: Thoroughly wash the entire machine using a pressure washer to remove all dirt, mud, debris, or residue.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE 3.1 MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES 8 HOURS 3.1.1 GREASING NOTICE Use an SAE multi-purpose high temperature grease with extreme pressure (EP) per- formance. Also acceptable is an SAE multi-purpose lithium based grease. Place lubricants in clean con- tainers and store in an area protected from dust, moisture, and other contaminants.

The warranty period commences on the date of delivery to the first retail purchaser (the “Customer”) if the In- Service Date Form is submitted to K-Tec within seven (7) days of the date of delivery to the Customer.

Additional Exclusions K-Tec reserves the right to deny warranty coverage, in full or in part, if K-Tec determines, in its sole discretion, that the damage to or deterioration of the K-Tec Leveler is the result of the Customer’s or a third party’s failure to operate the K-Tec Leveler in accordance with the owner’s manual and any of the following use guidelines as applicable.

K-Tec determines, in its sole discretion, to be reasonable. All parts and material that are replaced in the course of a warranty claim are the property of K-Tec and must be stored by the K-Tec Dealer for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days, unless K-Tec permits prior disposal.
