Introduction and Warnings This equipment is part of a large range of traffic flow products. They are designed to be easy to install, as all settings have been adjusted in our factory. Any of the instructions in this manual should only be followed by a qualified service engineer or a competent person. -

Lifting and Handling WARNING Always take safety precautions when lifting and handling heavy objects, in accordance with Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992. Always wear correct safety equipment in the vicinity of equipment being off loaded. It is important to use the correct nylon slings with a SWL of 2 tonne for each sling. Foundations All foundations should be installed as per drawing supplied as base sizes will vary depending on the size of the barrier. (Contact your supplier if you have not been issued one.) All foundations should be installed 10 x days prior to the gates being installed. If details of the base have not been specified, we recommend a concrete mix to BS EN 206-1:2000 “Concrete specification, Performance, Production and Conformity”... -

Installation It is preferable that installation takes place when expected through traffic is at a minimum. Position the barrier pedestal, still in its vertical position, onto its prepared concrete base. The locking pin should be at the rear and the stop bracket at the front (facing the road). Approximately align the pedestal, so that its centre line is in the position across the road where it is anticipated the pole will be when in the down position. -

Adjustments and Operation Making Adjustments. Before despatch; the balance weights are pre-set to balance the pole as supplied and therefore, should require no further adjustment. However, should it be necessary to shorten the pole from the length supplied due to unforeseen circumstances, it may be necessary to adjust the balance weights accordingly. -

Remove cordoned off area. ii. Depart the site leaving the area clean and tidy. The only moving component on a D1500 Manual Rising Arm Barrier is the pivot shaft and bearings. The bearings are “Sealed for Life” Plummer Blocks however, it is recommended that routine maintenance is carried out throughout the life of the equipment to inspect the Pivot Shaft, Bearings and other components e.g. -
