    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Personal Safety To prevent injury follow these instructions. Do not operate or service equipment unless you are qualified. Do not operate equipment unless safety guards, doors, or covers are intact and automatic interlocks are operating properly. Do not bypass or disarm any safety devices.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller The National Spray Equipment Manufacturers Association has created a wallet card that you should carry when you are operating high-pressure spray equipment. These cards are supplied with your equipment. The following is the text of this card: WARNING: Any injury caused by high pressure liquid can be serious.

    Clean, maintain, test, and repair equipment according to the instructions in your equipment documentation. Use only replacement parts that are designed for use with original equipment.     Follow the safety instructions in this document and all other related documentation. Read and understand this entire section before installing this equipment. If necessary, contact a local Nordson representative with questions about these procedures. Remove the Old Controller 1. Disconnect and lock out power to the ICD Dryer.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Prepare the New Controller The new controller needs to be partially disassembled after unpacking. After disassembly, the controller can be installed through the door assembly. 1. See Figure 3. Disconnect the wire connectors from the I/O Module.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Configurations The temperature controller has four system configurations. Each configuration requires the correct software and circuit board jumper settings.     Temperature offset and limits PID control Alarm NOTE: BR-1 Standard Controller screens are shown in this section. Some of the screens for the ICS, Independent, and Sterilizer configurations are different. Refer to the Appendix to obtain information on these screens.

The Nordson Splash screen appears for 10 seconds, then the Auto Mode screen appears. Figure 8 Auto Mode Screen 2. Touch the MENU button in the lower right-hand corner. See Figure 9.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Ramp Timer Setting The Ramp Time is the time it takes for a can end to travel the length of the dryer, from the entrance to the exit. This time is dependent on the line speed. The factory default is 60 seconds.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Manual Mode See Figure 17. The dryer can be operated in Manual mode. The Manual mode screen may be password protected to limit access. Refer to the Configurations/Options Setup section for more information on this screen.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller High and Low Alarms If the actual end temperature rises above the Alarm High setpoint or falls below the Alarm Low setpoint, the dryer will continue to operate for the period of time set using the Temperature Alarm Delay function. If the actual temperature is still above or below the alarm setpoints when the delay timer runs out, a system fault occurs.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Navigation Screen See Figure 19. The Navigation screen provides access to system settings, auto and manual screens, and the operator language screen. Touching the MENU button on any screen will open this screen. Some screens are password protected. They are normally used only for setup and testing.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Appendix ISC Screens The Following screens are specific to the ICS BR-1 controller configuration. Navigation See Figure 22. The Navigation screen provides access to the system settings, manual, and operator language screens. Touching the MENU button on any screen will open this screen.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Faults Touch the FAULT PAGE button on either the Auto or Manual mode screens to access the Fault screen shown in Figure 29. System faults are highlighted on the screen. A problem must be corrected and the fault reset before restarting the system.

    BR-1 Induction Temperature Controller Sterilizer Screens The Following screens are specific to the Sterilizer BR-1 controller configuration. Auto Mode See Figure 30. The default operating mode is Auto mode. The Auto Mode screen automatically appears when the dryer is turned on. The Standby Coil power maintains product temperature when line production stops.

Gate Control Setup If the production line shuts down, product will continue to heat inside the dryer for 20 minutes. Once the dryer starts, product that was on the line outside of the dryer must be rejected.
