    28108 card. Section 4, 28108 LCS Commands, is an extension of Section 2, 28000 LCS System Commands, of the 28000-LCS Programming Instructions manual. It describes the operation of specific 28108 card functions and commands using the LCS command set.

    1.2.2 Input Stage The 28108 input stage has 100 dB of common-mode rejection, low DC drift, and low noise. A programmable switch at the input stage is provided to connect the amplifier to the 28000 system test bus. The test bus is used to inject signals for performance verification. In addi- tion, the excitation supply may be connected to the input stage for direct verification of the excitation supply level.

    Page 17 28108 Setup and Installation Introduction This section contains instructions for preparing and installing the 28108 card for use with Precision Filters System 28000 frames. Before installing cards in your system, read Section 2, Site Preparation and Installation of the System 28000 Operation and Maintenance Instructions manual to become familiar with the procedure.

    If the shipping container has been damaged in any way, have the carrier’s agent present when the equipment is unpacked. If the equipment is damaged, file a claim with the carrier and forward a copy to Precision Filters. Precision Filters will notify you of the disposition of the equipment and will arrange for repair or replacement without waiting for a settlement of the claim against the carrier.

To minimize interfering noise sources, it is recommended that the completion resistors be located as close as possible to the active gage to keep the circuit physically balanced.

    3.2.4 Excitation The 28108 features a fully programmable (per channel) constant voltage excitation supply that can source from 0 to 20 volts to the bridge. Figure 31 illustrates the controls used to set and monitor performance of the excitation supply.

Modification M101 on the 28108 card provides fixed DC input coupling. Option 6 AC/DC Input Coupling Option 6 AC/DC Input Coupling allows the user to select the balanced differential input coupling, either AC coupled or DC coupled.

    3.2.6 Filter Type Use the FTYPE control field on 28108-LP4FP cards to select either flat mode (LP4F) or pulse mode (LP4P) operation of the low-pass filter. See Figure 32. Flat mode provides pass-band characteristics nearly identical to a Butterworth filter while providing a much sharper roll-off.

    Zero Suppress mode is available for applications where the 28108 excitation supply is not uti- lized but the amplifier zero is required. In this mode, a precision 10 V voltage source is used as the reference for the zero circuitry to provide the best zero stability.
