Adjusting the Interpupillary Distance (IPD) The interpupillary distance, or the distance between the pupils, varies from person to person. You’ll need to adjust the binocular for the distance between your pupils to achieve a single, clear image. To do this, lift the binocular up to your eyes (using both hands) and look at an object in the distance. Setting the Diopter/Focusing To ensure a crisp, sharp image, you must set the binocular’s focusing system to compensate for any differences in your eyesight. To do this, set the diopter (located on the right eyepiece*) before use by following the instructions below: 1.
