Chapter 1 Unpacking, Installation, and Operation This chapter provides information on: • Unpacking on page 1-1 • Installation and Operation on page 1-2 • Setting the Flow Rate for the FC-100 on page 1-3 • The FC-200 FLUSH Flowmeter on page 1-4 Figure 1-1 FC-100 and FC-200 flow controllers Unpacking 1.
Chapter 1 : Unpacking, Installation, and Operation Installation and Operation Installation and Operation The flow controller has been factory-set for the design flow rate value. 1. Refer to the sensor manual and install the sensor. 2. Connect the flow controller downstream from the sensor to avoid contaminating the sample (Figure 1-3).
Setting the Flow Rate for the FC-100 Chapter 1 : Unpacking, Installation, and Operation Setting the Flow Rate for the FC-100 Different viscosities of fluids affect the flowmeter reading of the FC-100. The influence of viscosity on flow rate depends on the particular flowmeter being used. Since temperature affects the viscosity of water, Particle Measuring Systems recommends that the flowmeter be dynamically calibrated for use with water temperatures other than 21.1C (70 F).
Chapter 1 : Unpacking, Installation, and Operation The FC-200 FLUSH Flowmeter The FC-200 FLUSH Flowmeter The FC-200’s FLUSH flowmeter is used to purge the sample/test line and the sensor of any bubbles that may have accumulated during shipping, transportation, or installation.
The FC-200 FLUSH Flowmeter Chapter 1 : Unpacking, Installation, and Operation Flushing with the FC-200 Anytime the particle counter is disconnected and reconnected to the sample line, the sample/test line and the sensor should be flushed to remove any bubbles. Before running a sample, the counter should be flushed while the FC-200 is connected to remove possible contamination.
