General
A.
This section gives the removal and installation procedures for the FAST GSM antenna. For a general description of the
antenna, refer to FAST Engine Trend Monitoring System - Description and Operation.
2.
GSM Antenna Removal/Installation
A.
Remove GSM Antenna (YC1006) (Refer to Figure 401).
(1) Remove external electrical power from the airplane.
(2) Make sure that the BATTERY switch (SC005), found on the circuit breaker switch panel, is set to the OFF position.
(3) Disengage the ETM POWER, and ETM CONTINUOUS POWER circuit breakers found on the relay panel just
forward of the left side of the firewall.
(4) Remove the antenna.
(a) Carefully remove the sealer from the edge of the antenna.
(b) Remove the sealant from the screw counter-bores on the antenna.
(c) Remove the screws that attach the antenna to the fuselage skin.
(5) Carefully pull the antenna away from the fuselage skin sufficiently to get access to the coaxial connector.
(a) Disconnect the coaxial connector (PC1000).
(6) Remove the antenna from the airplane.
(7) Carefully remove the sealant from the fuselage skin.
(8) Examine the fuselage skin to make sure that there are no cracks, corrosion, or damage.
B.
Install GSM Antenna (YC1006) (Refer to Figure 401).
(1) Make sure that the mounting surface of the fuselage skin are clean.
(2) Put the antenna near the correct mounting position on the fuselage skin.
(a) Connect the coaxial connector (PC1000) to the antenna.
(3) Install the screws that attach the antenna to the fuselage skin.
(4) Do an electrical bond check (Type I) between the antenna and the primary structure. Refer to Chapter 20, Electrical
Bonding - Maintenance Practices.
(5) Apply Type V, Class A to the screw counterbores. Refer to Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure, and High-
Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices.
(6) Apply Type XIII, Grade 2, Class B sealant to make a fillet seal around the perimeter of the antenna. Refer to Chapter
20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure, and High-Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices.
(7) Engage the ETM POWER, and ETM CONTINUOUS POWER circuit breakers found on the relay panel just forward of
the left side of the firewall.
(8) Do a test of the GSM antenna. Refer to Fast Engine Trend Monitoring System - Adjustment/Test.
