Definition of Terms / Abbreviations The term „accounting“ is a collective term for different methods of accounting. 3 kinds of accounting are differentiated which are basically distin- guished regarding their hardware interface and their type of usage: Accounting via MDB interface = vending machine All connected units which communicate via the MDB interface with the coffee machine, serve the purpose of direct vending to the end customer and are called vending machines.

Abbreviations / Terms MDB: Multi Drop Bus – standardized, widely spread interface for vending machines eMDB: Enhanced MDB Coin checker Coin changer Card reader EVA / DTS: European Vending Association / Data Transfer Standard Vending: Vending is the sales and vending of products by a machine. In the communal catering the operators usually fill these machines with beverages, sandwiches and snacks.
General description of an MDB interface / signalization The MDB interface serves for communication between a master (= WMF coffee machine) and up to 32 slaves (= vending machines) via a bus. Each MDB unit has a constantly assigned address (depending on type) and a constant instruction set. The master carries out a periodic polling of all connected MDB devices.
WMF 9000S+ 4.4.1 MDB interface The MDB interface is on the front panel. In order to connect an MDB unit, an additional adapter cable will be required for the machine cable harness. The MDB unit is provided with 24 V voltage by the adapter connector „waste water tank“.
4.4.3 MDB connection cable for coin changer/ card reader and further devices For connection of a coin changer the MDB cable of the add-on unit can be extended if required by means of an extension cable. Item no. connection cable: 33.2330.7000...
Connection of several MDB units If several MDB units are to be connected to one coffee machine, a Y cable is required. As it is a bus communication, it is irrelevant which vending machine is con- nected to which MDB connection. There are also card readers that already have the possibility for connection of a second MDB unit – in this case a Y cable is not required.
Independent of the possibility to set the machine to “all free of charge YES” in the machine program, the machine can be operat- ed with this switch without accounting. Item no. free-of-charge switch incl. connection cable: 33.2331.5000 Anschluß an die Maschine: WMF 1100S 2x Grau Gelb...
eMDB - Abrantix card With the standard MDB interface of the WMF coffee machines in combination with card readers, there might be timing and thus communication problems. The Abrantix card is connected to the serial interface (RS232) of the coffee machine and converts the signalling to the MDB protocol. At the machine, a serial interface is required, the Abrantix card is fitted into the housing of the card reader.

The multiple coin mode will be used, if coins of multiple currencies shall be detected and processed (for example, with coffee machines that are operated in border areas).
5.2.5 Token teach The ex factory pre-programmed WMF tokens can be overwritten if required by customized tokens. Procedure: 1. Set all DIP switches in blocks 1+2 to OFF 2. Set DIP switch 2.9 to ON 3. Set DIP switch of coin chute to be taught to ON Coin chute 1: switch 1.1 Coin chute 2:...
