    Definition of Terms / Abbreviations The term „accounting“ is a collective term for different methods of accounting. 3 kinds of accounting are differentiated which are basically distin- guished regarding their hardware interface and their type of usage: Accounting via MDB interface = vending machine All connected units which communicate via the MDB interface with the coffee machine, serve the purpose of direct vending to the end customer and are called vending machines.

    Abbreviations / Terms MDB: Multi Drop Bus – standardized, widely spread interface for vending machines eMDB: Enhanced MDB Coin checker Coin changer Card reader EVA / DTS: European Vending Association / Data Transfer Standard Vending: Vending is the sales and vending of products by a machine. In the communal catering the operators usually fill these machines with beverages, sandwiches and snacks.

    General description of an MDB interface / signalization The MDB interface serves for communication between a master (= WMF coffee machine) and up to 32 slaves (= vending machines) via a bus. Each MDB unit has a constantly assigned address (depending on type) and a constant instruction set. The master carries out a periodic polling of all connected MDB devices.

    Connection of several MDB units If several MDB units are to be connected to one coffee machine, a Y cable is required. As it is a bus communication, it is irrelevant which vending machine is con- nected to which MDB connection. There are also card readers that already have the possibility for connection of a second MDB unit – in this case a Y cable is not required.

    eMDB - Abrantix card With the standard MDB interface of the WMF coffee machines in combination with card readers, there might be timing and thus communication problems. The Abrantix card is connected to the serial interface (RS232) of the coffee machine and converts the signalling to the MDB protocol. At the machine, a serial interface is required, the Abrantix card is fitted into the housing of the card reader.

    5.2.6 Cleaning and care According to its degree of use the coin chute should be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth. Attention: Disconnect coin checker previously from power supply! Never change device while live! Attention: Crushing hazard! The coin checker door can be opened for cleaning as shown in the picture. Please use a damp (not wet!) cloth and do not use aggressive cleaning detergents. After- wards dry the cleaned surfaces.

    Coin changer The main functions of coin changers can be described as follows:  Coins and tokens are accepted – also in combination.  Overpaid money is returned as change*.  A payment process can be interrupted prior to start of beverage dispensing. The money already paid will be returned again*. *This will only be valid if the coin changer is programmed accordingly (obligation to buy, multiple vending) and if sufficient change is available in the coin changer.

    6.2.3 Change management The mei CF7900 offers various features to manage and optimize the float level of the machine as well as the change payout. 1. Float to level Each tube can be filled to a specific level, after which the coins are routed to the cash box. This is the traditional float style.     6.2.4 Cleaning and care Safety: BEFORE YOU BEGIN; SWITCH OFF THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE VENDING MACHINE Dirt is a major cause of malfunctioning and therefore cleaning is a prominent aspect of field servicing. Apart from general cleaning near the CF7900, the coin path, dispenser arms and guides must also be cleaned on a regular basis.
