C 3436 PRODUCT OVERVIEW PRODUCT OVERVIEW FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE OF THE DEVICE The system for the monitoring of conductivity consists of two main parts: • the transmitter object of this instruction manual; • the conductivity cell. The instrument operates in analog and/or digital functionality.
C 3436 PRODUCT OVERVIEW The conductivity measurement is carried out using a cell with 2 or 4 electrodes featur- ing defined geometric dimensions, completely surrounded by the liquid, to which is ap- plied an alternating voltage of suitable frequency to avoid polarization of the same caused by electrochemical effects.

C 3436 SPECIFICATIONS SPECIFICATIONS FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION Display The instrument is equipped with an alphanumeric LCD display 8x1 characters. The display shows the measured values and messages which guide the operator in the use of the instrument. The message scrolls across the display and begin with the identification number report- ed to the technical specifications.

C 3436 OPERATING PROCEDURE OPERATING MODES The transmitter can be configured to operate in analog mode (current loop 4-20 mA = Enable). The digital mode is always active. The transmitter in the analog mode (current loop) can be connected to a PLC or B&C Electronics instruments BC 7335 - BC7635 - BC7687 - BC6587, which provide power to the transmitter and allow the display of the measurement.
C 3436 OPERATING PROCEDURE From this display the user can access the calibration procedure of the temperature probe if this has not been reserved to the maintainer. 5.4.4 PARAMETERS RESERVED TO THE PLANT MAINTAINER From this display the user can access the maintenance menu of the instrument (setup) via password.
C 3436 OPERATING PROCEDURE 5.5.2 MAKING MEASUREMENTS To operate the system installed, verify the connection of the following components: • the conductivity cell and the eventual RTD in contact with the liquid under test; • the logic input if necessary;...

C 3436 OPERATING PROCEDURE UP (SENS) by pressing this button for more than 3 seconds, the message will Sens Cal appear alternately to the actual conductivity value or if the calibration was Cal lock inhibited in the setup (Display S1.1).
C 3436 OPERATING PROCEDURE The two error messages provided by the instrument during the calibration indicate that the cell is in unacceptable operating con- dition (and therefore risky for the plant). In fact, a zero deviation > 10 % Zero Err is an indication of ex- cessive electrodes pollution or problems on the cable.
