Supplementary Instructions - New Power Supply
From 2024, the eShel's high voltage power supply is powered via a 12V 5A DC adapter. This
adapter is plugged into and is controlled by the calibration unit. The calibration unit itself
utilises two power sources; a 12V DC 2A power supply, and a direct AC connection.
Figure 1: The new high voltage power supply
Connect the 12V DC 5A power supply to the calibration unit with the supplied AC patch
cable.

Activate the thorium lamp ‘ThAr’ switch. Adjust the voltage to produce about 9mA of current. Temporarily remove the fibre output plug to view the illuminated lamp. The LED and Tungsten lamps can also be tested at this stage. Figure 4: Correct thorium lamp current setting.
