    Introduction Swissphone’s powerful mioty ® Base Station m.BASE is designed for the most demanding IoT applications that require optimal bidirectional communication with End-Points and sensors. ® Mioty is a highly robust and reliable LPWAN (low power wide area network) radio technology on the market.

    1.1.1 Mioty System Overview The mioty LPWAN network is setup as star architecture for mainly uplink driven use cases with three dedicated roles within the system: 1. End-Point (EP) Radio nodes with modem stack and application software (e.g. sensors). Mainly intended for low power applications with uplink focus.

    Getting Started Follow the instructions for setting up the m.BASE Base Station on your location and configure and connect it to the mioty network. Hardware Setup 2.1.1 Installation • Place and fix the m.BASE at an indoor location securely. • Use the right mounting brackets and screws / cable ties depending on the installation type (wall, rack, DIN).

    Software Configuration 2.2.1 First time setup of the m.BASE Base Station This setup wizard helps you configure the main features of your device for initial setup. In most cases, you can accept the provided defaults. See chapter 4.4.2 and 4.5.2 for more details on configuration. To access the login window, connect the device to the network and make sure the device is powered on.

    Physical Interface The m.BASE offers physical connectors and indicators on the front panel and depending on the model at the rear panel. The main interaction with the system is done “headless” via the network over the web interface or directly using the API.     3.3.2 Power States The DC power states are bond to hardware detectors and indicate single- or redundant supply in green or yellow color if they are within range. The state is red if no supply is within a valid range (typically undervoltage).

    3.3.4 Activity States In general, all activity states are indicated with blinking or flashing in yellow colour. Active states do overlay the basic states. LINK, RX and TX activities are indicated with a short off time in between for every triggered event and a cool-down time holding the state artificially longer for better visibility.

    3.4.3 Factory Reset A system administrator may also need to reset the system to its factory default state and erase all user settings, passwords, and communication certificates.     The three most significant bytes represent the organisation identifier (OUI). 5C-33-5C is representing SWISSPHONE. The next two bytes are used by SWISSPHONE for device specific coding (e.g. 50-BA) while the last 3 bytes are used as sequence number by the production.

    Web Interface The m.BASE Base Station can be setup, configured and controlled via web interface. All operations are also available via API (see chapter 5). This section describes the relevant steps and functionalities to use it. Access Power on the device and connect it to the local network.     Glossary Term / Abbreviation Definition Application Center – The AC is a mioty software service that processes application-specific data messages received by the Service Center (SC) from an mioty End-Point and does encrypt and parse application data to other formats/protocols. It also manages the application-layer downlink payload to the SC.
