STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
DO NOT use this machine unless you have been instructed in its
safe use and operation and authorised by your Supervisor
Safety Glasses must be worn at all times
Hi-Vis/ Protective Clothing required
Safety Boots required
Protective gloves required
PRE-OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECKS
1. Ensure no slip/trip hazards are present in the surrounding workspace and walkways.
Ensure a spill kit is available for cleanup of any slip hazard.
2. Ensure the work area is clear of other workers.
3. Check all fluid lines are in good condition with no leaks.
4. Check that the electrical line to the machine is covered and no visible damage.
5. Check the hydraulic oil level, adding oil as necessary.
6. Check the cutting fluid level, adding fluid as necessary.
7. Check the saw blade to ensure that it is properly positioned on both the drive and
driven wheels and in good condition.
8. Ensure the saw blade is properly clamped by the left and right inserts.
9. Check that all guards are in position and in good order.
10. Check grills are clear of grit.
11. Ensure roller doors are open at both ends of machine for light and ventilation.
12. Ensure gate to Sheet Metal workshop is closed to prevent entry when machine is
operating.
13. Check all controls and emergency stop control for operation.
Changing Saw Blade
1. Move saw head upward against stop.
2. Turn isolation switch on machine to the OFF
position.
3. Open the wheel cover.
4. Open the driven-side saw blade safety cover.
5. Pull down the saw blade insert.
6. Turn the saw blade tension lever to
7. Clean the saw band guides before installing a new
saw blade. Ensure leather or cut proof gloves are
worn when changing blade.
8. Install the saw blade on the drive and driven wheels
with the cutting edge facing down.
9. Press the back of the saw blade against the flange of the drive wheel, and hold the
saw blade with the blade holder.
