Introduction
SUNIX MCS series, PCIe Serial communication board, allows users to add or expand multiple RS-232
COM ports on embedded PC system via full height Mini Card slot. SUNIX MCS series meets PCI Express
Full-Mini Card Specification Revision 1.2. Compact PCB design is ideal for All-in-One PC, 1 liter PC, or
embedded PC application. Furthermore, complete operation system driver support, 128-bytes onboard
FIFO buffer, 16C950 compatible UART specification, and it is designed with SUNIX native PCI Express
UART controller, SUN2410 and as well built with many of SUNIX advanced features and technologies,
making it the best solution for commercial and industrial automation applications.

Note: The height of pin header component (max 7.6mm) exceeds PCIe Full-Mini Card Specification (max
2.4mm) on the PCB top side. This card uses header to access standard DB9M COM port to the system
external panel. If there is any mechanical chassis compatible problem, please contact us for the ODM
service.

Hardware Installation
The hardware installation of PCIe MiniCard Serial boards is simple. Before inserting the card into the
PCIe MiniCard slot, please follow the detailed steps given below to install the PCIe MiniCard into your
computer.
Step 1: Remove the screw attached to the motherboard.
Step 2: Insert PCIe MiniCard tightly into the slot with 20° angle.
Step 3: Push the PCIe MiniCard down to the screw hole.
Step 4: Lock screw on PCIe MiniCard.
Step 5: Connect D-Sub- cable with the PCIe MiniCard header one by one.
Step 6: Secure the other end of the D-Sub cable to the PC chassis by locking the hex screw.

Driver Installation
In order to ensure proper operation of your PCIe MiniCard, the driver will be in the CD bound with your product.
You can specify the location(folder):
▪Windows Driver Installation
Driver
Please visit SUNIX website (https://www.sunix.com) to download least driver version by searching product model
number. Or you can update driver over "Microsoft Windows Update" service under Windows 10 or later operation
system.
▪Linux Driver Installation
This installation guide describes the procedures to install the PCIe Serial board in Linux kernel 2.x, 3.x and 4.x
Please refer to "snx_Vx.x.x.x.zip" for driver installation detail in CD Driver (Linux folder) directory.

(2)Device node creation
Please create a directory under root directory, e.g /temp, do commands:
Each Serial port has one device node which is named "ttySNX?",
maximum up to 32 Serial ports.
# cd /
# mkdir temp
This setp will be done when do "make clean ; make install",
if device nodes aren't in /dev, do commands:
After get driver file "snx_Vx.x.x.x.zip". Copy file to /temp
directory, then extract and install, do commands:
# cd /temp/snx/snxmknod
# ./snxmknod
# cp snx_Vx.x.x.x.zip /temp
# cd /temp
This will create device nodes in /dev.
# unzip snx_Vx.x.x.x.zip
# cd /temp/snx
If there are more than two boards installed,
# make clean ; make install
Serial port device nameing convention please refer to F1.

* If system is Suse 9.0 and errors occur when
* "make clean ; make install", do commands:

* # cd /usr/src/linux/
* # make cloneconfig
* # make dep
*
* then do "make clean ; make install" again in /temp/snx

Load driver module, do command:
# modprobe snx
or
# insmod /temp/snx/driver/snx.ko (snx.o for kernel 2.4)
Check driver module, do command:
# lsmod | grep snx
Unload driver, do command:
# rmmod snx
