IMPORTANT—PLEASE READ
The TPD-CAT6 comes with terminals for hard ground (GRD) and a shield/
floating ground (SHD). For the lowest impedance ground, always connect the
ground wire to the hard ground terminal/GDR.
If the building has a presence of excessive noise or voltage on the ground,
upon installation of the suppressor poor data speed/signal degradation may
occur. To check if the degradation is due to the presence of noise or voltage on
the ground, simply disconnect the ground wire on the TPD-CAT6 and see if the
speed/signal issue improves. If it does, try connecting the ground to the shield/
floating ground (SHD) terminal. That should make the problem disappear. If it
does not, install the TPD-GTGW (Gas Tube Ground Wire) which is a 10-inch
ground wire with a built-in noise isolator in series with your ground connection.
This should eliminate the problem. Consider purchasing a few TPD-GTGW
units to have ready to use in case of any communication issues. If you have
multiple units at one location, only one TPD-GTGW is needed on the final
ground connection.

protection. Data protection diverts or dumps excess energy from data lines into
the power grounding system. By strategically protecting branch breaker panels
with the TPX, surge events will once again be equalized and safely contained at
the breaker panel.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Note: If devices are received damaged, notify the shipping company
immediately. Retain containers and packing materials for inspection.

Protect 8 wire Ethernet RJ45 Connections with data max data rate at 1 Gbps.
INSTALLATION
1. Unit is Bidirectional. Not In/Out Sensitive. Check unit label for proper
installation.
2. To protect Ethernet switch/hub or equipment end of cable install unit in front
of the equipment you wish to protect and ground to power source feeding
equipment. Install with minimum 12" leads between unit and equipment.
GROUNDING
3. Connect an AWG # 14 ground wire from one of the unit's ground terminals
which are located on either side of the unit, and secure it to the nearest
available electrical system ground. The unit's ground lug must be connected to
the ground AC reference used by the system being protected. In some
environments, this ground point may be the ground bar in the AC power panel
or low voltage equipment electrical ground.
