Replacing Filters
With the pump switched OFF and UNPLUGGED,
unscrew the old filter element and dispose of safely.
Screw on the new element hand-tight and make
sure its in-built seal is correctly seated before
plugging the unit back into its power supply.
Now, simply switch ON and check for leaks,
especially around the seal.
EQUIPMENT CARE
Never push the equipment beyond its design
limits. If it will not do what you want with reasonable
ease, assume you have the wrong tool for the job.
Contact your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Handle the equipment with care. Avoid dropping it,
knocking it, or otherwise exposing it to damage.
Never expose the equipment to dangerous and/or
corrosive chemicals.
Never allow the pump to run 'dry'. You could
seriously damage it.
Keep the equipment clean. You will find this less of a
chore if you clean up regularly, rather than wait until the
end of the hire period.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere
clean, dry and safe from thieves.
Mineral Oil Only
The HSS Oil Transfer Pump is designed to pump
hydraulic and other mineral oils with a viscosity of 500
centistokes or less, through a head of 1.5m to 2m, at
a rate of up to 15 litres per minute. DO NOT use the
pump for any other fluids.
FINISHING OFF
Switch OFF the unit just before it starts to pump
itself 'dry' and unplug it.
Place the ends of both the suction- and return-
hoses into a suitable container and allow to drain.
Neatly coil the flex and hoses ready for return.
Finally, clean the equipment with a damp cloth
(never use cleaning agents) ready for return to your local
HSS Hire Shop.
Do Not Flush
There is no need to flush the unit through after use
to clean it. Indeed, flushing it through with water
and/or detergents and other cleaning agents will
actually damage it and contaminate the next batch
of oil to be pumped.
