Prerequisites 1. The M9484C (host) must have Option AL2 (M9484C-AL2) installed. V3080A requires an M9484C with option AL2 and 532, 544, or 554. If option 532 or 544 are selected, settable frequency will stop at the specified maximum frequency for that option and resume at 52.8 GHz when the V3080A is connected.
Attach the Baseplate to the V3080A using the four screws supplied in the case. The screws go through the bottom of the baseplate into the holes in the bottom of the V3080A. A 2.0 mm hex wrench (not included in the shipment) is required. Hand tighten the screws. Do not over torque.
Connect the 3.5 mm (f) to 3.5 mm (f) adapter to the M9484C LO 1 or LO 2. For a dual channel VXG, you can add a V3080A to either channel 1 or channel 2, or use two V3080As for two channels.

Once you have made all cable connections, verify that the two LEDs on the front of the V3080A are green. If the V3080A does not power on (LEDs green), the USB-C cable may not be plugged into the M9484C correctly. Turn the USB-C connector 180 degrees, and verify the LEDs are green.
Figure 1-10 Two V3080As Connected to a 2-Channel M9484C VXG The outer surfaces of the V3080A can become hot during use. Use caution when handling the units. It is recommended to power down the unit to allow the heat to dissipate prior to handling.
M9484C VXG automatically configures the instrument's settings for the V3080A. However, the characteristics of the cable used to provide the IF to the V3080A must be entered into the instrument’s software. To do this, you need to select the appropriate IF cable used for V3080A connection in the M9484C software GUI.
