Installation Instructions for Optional Heater Pad

This document explains how to install an optional heater pad into the Alpha Micro 100 UPS. The heater pad is designed to keep the battery

temperature within the operating range during freezing ambient conditions.

WARNING!

The heater pad must be installed by technicians trained in the safe use of high-energy power supplies and batteries. All wiring con-

nections must be made according to applicable electrical codes.

Where necessary, Use proper lockout/tag out procedure to prevent shock hazard.

Switch off Line power to UPS and switch off loads

1. Switch off the external circuit breaker supplying line power to the UPS. The UPS goes into the inverter

mode where the AC output is still energized. NOTE: A shock hazard exists if the UPS door is opened.

2. Switch off the power to the loads, but do not disconnect the load wires as they are still live.

Open front door, switch off UPS

1. Open UPS front door.

2. Turn off battery circuit breaker.

Installation Procedure

1. Disconnect the appropriate wiring.

2. Remove both front batteries
