  • Page 2 Introduction The smart-RX is a PLL FM stereo receiver for broadcast relay (Transposer) applications. It can be set to receive any frequency from 87.5 to 108 MHz (100kHz steps). As well as a very high quality and sensitive Front End, which can reject adjacent strong signals, the smart-RX also features DSP processing of the baseband signal.

Connect the antenna system to the ANTENNA input socket. Connect a BNC lead between the smart-RX output socket and the MPX input socket of an FM Exciter. Adjust the input of the FM Exciter for the required deviation (modulation) level. If this is not possible, or if extra gain adjustment is required, adjust VR3 (preset trimmer) on the internal circuit board for to set the required output level.

Operation Once powered-on, the smart-RX will display the receive frequency and the received signal strength level. RF front end gain, the IF Bandwidth and the stereo quality parameters will adjust automatically. The DSP circuits will filter individual components of the baseband signal, process them, and then merge them, to re-construct the baseband.
