STARTING
SAFETY FIRST

Avoid accidents by keeping hands and
feet clear of blade while starting engine
and while engine is running

Shut off engine and remove spark plug
wire before adding gas or oi I and be-
fore making adjustments or inspection of
any kind.

BE SURE HANDS AND FEET ARE
CLEAR OF THE MOWER BASE BEFORE
ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE

Assemble lower handle to deck by in-

likewise will assemble in holes in

handle. Then secure the handle with - " II \
spring pins provided

Pull throttle lever to "choke" position. For
Impulse Starter: Standing on left side of mower;-
push in on release lever, unfold the starter
handle and wind-up clockwise about

turns
Fold handle over and pull out on the release
lever. For Recoil Starter: Standing at the rear
of the mower, grasp the starter handle firmly in
your hand and give it a quick pull to complete

Assemble upper handle, Control Panel
and lower handle with nuts and bolts
provided.. See illustration at right.

When engine starts. Push the
throttle lever forward approxi-
mately halfway or until engine
runs about 1/3 open throttle . .

NEVER FILL THE GAS TANK WHILE THE ENGINE
IS RUNNING DO NOT MIX OIL WITH GASOLINE

Remove oil filler plug and fill with
S. A E No. 30 motor oil up to the
top of the filler hole. Be sure
engine is level when adding oil to
avoid over filling

Fill the gas tank with ciean, fresh,
regular gasoline Premium Grade
Ethyl is not recommended.

If engine fails to start after LOW SPEED
repeated attempts, turn the low-'-...... SCREW

counter-clockwise about one
full turn and low speed screw

and one hal f turns.. Repeat
starting operation

The first time the engine is started,
allow to run at 1/3 open throttle for 10
to 15 minutes to thoroughly lubricate all
moving parts and
