1. Introduction
At the heart of the MPM489W level transmitter is a precision, silicon, Piezoresistive sensing element,
enclosed in a 316L stainless steel housing.
Please read this manual carefully to ensure correct & reliable operation.
2. Scope of Supply
The transmitter is supplied with following items as standard:
MPM489W Level Transmitter

Calibration sheet
3. Unpacking
a) Carefully unpack the transmitter, taking care not to damage the transmitter or accessories.
4. Storage
The transmitter should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated room with an ambient temperature of -20
(depending on the cable type) and a relative humidity of ≤85%. The room should not contain any corrosive
substances.

5.1 Dimensions (mm)
5.2 Installation
5.2.1 Check before Installation that:
a) The liquid level is within the transmitters' level measurement range.
b) The pressure media is compatible with the sensor's construction material.
c) The pressure media is unlikely to obstruct the holes around the nose cone.
5.3 Installation method
5.3.1
Measurements with static liquids
Generally, the transmitter should be mounted vertically, perpendicular to the media surface
(See Figure 2.)
The transmitter should be positioned nearest to the bottom of the tank, container, or ground. To
avoid potential damage caused by the force and vibration generated by any pump during operation, it is
advisable to locate the transmitter at a considerable distance from the liquid inlet and outlet.
If the locating the transmitter away from any pump is not possible, it is advisable to install the
transmitter within a steel pipe (stilling tube), with an ID of at least 30mm, as depicted in figure 3.
Multiple holes should be drilled at various heights along the pipe to facilitate the passage of the media
into the pipe with uniform pressure. If required, it is recommended to use an additional steel-wire
wrap for lifting the transmitter, instead of pulling the cable, which could potentially lead to cable
to 85
damage.

Measurements in flowing media
Measurements involving flowing media can be conducted through various
methods:
1- Steel pipe protection, as outlined in section 5.3.1 and depicted in Figure 3. Depending on
dynamic conditions, it may be necessary to increase the thickness of the pipe.
2- For clean water applications, the transmitter can be shallowly buried in an ecological
sand and gravel water bed, as illustrated in Figure 4.
6. Electrical Connection
6.1 Pin definition
The pin definitions of cable output are as follows:
Note: The tube in the center of the cable, installed with humidity filter, must not be blocked or filled with
water and must be connected to the atmosphere. This is to protect the product and ensure the accuracy
of the output measurement.
