SPIRAL SCREW EXTRACTOR SET
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of injury, do not attempt to use this product
until you have read thoroughly and understand completely this
operator's manual and the operator's manual for any power
tools used. Always wear eye protection with side shields
marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Ensure compatibility and
fit before using this accessory. Do not use this accessory if a
part is damaged or missing.
REMOVING A BROKEN SCREW OR BOLT
See Figures 1 - 6.
 Choose the correct extractor and drill bit, refer to the chart in
figure 1.
 (Optional) Center punch a hole into the middle of the broken screw
or bolt to prevent the drill bit from walking.
 (Optional) Apply a drop of lubricant inside the center hole.
 Drill a hole into the screw head with a depth that is slightly less
than three times the diameter of the bit. For example, if the drill
bit is 3/16 in, then drill a depth slightly less than 9/16 in.
NOTE: Drilling a small pilot hole (1/16 or 1/8 in.) may be beneficial.
 Insert the screw extractor into the hole and gently tap it in using
a hammer until it is firmly stuck in the hole.
 Using pliers or a wrench, grab the extractor and slowly turn it
counterclockwise until the threads engage. Continue turning the
extractor until the screw reverses out.
NOTE: The extractor has left hand threads that should catch when
turned counter-clockwise.
