Simrad PX miniCatch Instruction Manual Before a sensor is used for the first time, it must be configured. When configuration is required, connect the sensor to a computer running the TV80 and/or PX Configurator programs by means of the PX Configurator cable.
Simrad PX miniCatch PX miniCatch sensor familiarization The PX miniCatch sensor is significantly smaller than the rest of the sensors in the PX family. The sensor includes a side-pull and, optionally, a back-pull (lid dependant). A LED light is included at the rear of the sensor to indicate whether the sensor is on. The LED light is also on during charging mode and configuration mode.
Your dealer will also be able to help you with a detailed quotation including price and delivery information. Note The Simrad PX miniCatch sensor is provided in several different versions. The version is defined by the type of sensor lid. Relevant order information is provided on our website.

Mounting the PX miniCatch sensor on the trawl gear Mounting the PX miniCatch sensor on the cod end The sensor monitors the expansion of the meshes in the codend. Once the volume caught is enough to expand the meshes, they will pull the detector wires and engage the sensor. The sensitivity of the sensor can easily be adjusted by simply extending the rubber bands attachment.
Page 22
Simrad PX miniCatch Instruction Manual Note The shape of the meshes is relevant to the functioning of the sensor. If the meshes of your net are not diamond-shaped, you must make some adjustments to the installation. Attach the safety wire.
Mounting the PX miniCatch sensor on the trawl gear Mounting the PX miniCatch C/T sensor on the cod end The PX miniCatch C/T sensor monitors both the temperature of the water and the expansion of the meshes in the cod end. Once the volume caught is enough to expand the meshes, they will pull the detector wires and engage the sensor.

Mounting the PX miniCatch on a purse seine Mounting the PX miniCatch D/T sensor on a purse seine The PX miniCatch sensor is compatible with purse seine systems and can replace bigger sensors such as the PX MultiCatch. When installed on a purse seine, the sensor provides depth measurement.
Simrad PX miniCatch Instruction Manual Configuring a PX sensor Each individual sensor can be configured to specify its communication channel, which measurements to make and some other relevant operating parameters. Please note that this is a generic procedure. Prerequisites When configuration is required, connect the sensor to a computer running the TV80 and/or PX Configurator programs by means of the PX Configurator cable.

Simrad PX miniCatch Instruction Manual Maintenance during normal use Regular maintenance of the PX miniCatch sensor will reward you with a long product life. The hardware maintenance is limited, but you must make sure that your sensor is handled correctly.
The pins on the charging socket can wear down with frequent use. This may affect the electrical contact. You can order spare pins from your local dealer or Kongsberg Discovery. Procedure Make sure that the charger is disconnected from the AC mains power.

Daily use and maintenance Inspection and replacement of the brass screw You must inspect the sacrificial water switch (brass screw) every month. Prerequisites The following items are required: • AquaShield • Brass screw Context The sensor is equipped with a sacrificial brass water switch.
Simrad PX miniCatch Instruction Manual Charging the sensor battery Every PX family sensor is equipped with a custom made Li-Ion battery. The PX MultiSensor Charger is especially designed for charging this battery. Normal charging time for a fully depleted sensor battery is approximately four hours.
Page 35
Daily use and maintenance Observe that the indicator LED on the charger is lit with a red colour. This means that fast charging is in progress. If you connect the charger to a fully charged sensor the indicator LED on the charger will be red for a short period, and then it will change to green.

Daily use and maintenance Making sure that the output voltage from the battery charger is correct A defective charger can damage the sensor causing bad performance. We recommend that you use one dedicated charger for each sensor. The operation of the battery charger can be verified by means of a standard multimeter.
Simrad PX miniCatch Instruction Manual Investigating noise problems When noise appears in the same frequency range as the sensors are using for their communication, the resulting information may be unstable or unreadable. Prerequisites The TV80 system has been set up with its hardware units connected as specified by the relevant installation instructions.
