Service Guide: Fiery® ES IC-420 Replacing Parts 7 If you are replacing the HDD with a new HDD, remove the HDD from its bracket. Remove the four screws that secure the HDD to the HDD bracket (see Figure 11). Important: Make sure to support the HDD as you remove the screws. Do not loosen or remove the screws on the HDD covers.
The power supply unit is outside the Fiery ES chassis and is attached to the mounting plate. For the detailed procedures for removing and replacing the power supply, refer to the VI-516/UK-115/IC-420 Installation Manual provided separately, Installing the field replaceable unit (FRU) The field replaceable unit (FRU) comes with all the component for the Fiery ES except the DIMMs and HDD.
Page 29
Service Guide Replacing Parts If the new FRU solves the problem that you are troubleshooting, use the dongle provided with FRU to transfer options • to the FRU. If you determine while in Service Mode that the problem you are troubleshooting was not fixed by installing a new FRU, do not expend the FRU dongle to transfer options to the FRU (described below), do not install system software, and do not replace the hard disk drive.
Service Guide Replacing Parts To enter the service mode and verify the FRU 1 Make sure that the Fiery ES is connected to the printer, and both service switches are in OFF position. Figure 12: Fiery ES service switches OFF position Service switches: Make sure that both switches are in normal (OFF) position.
Service Guide Replacing Parts 3 Make sure that the Fiery ES is connected to the printer, and both service switches are in OFF position (see Figure 12 page 28). 4 Power on the Fiery ES, and then the printer (see page 12).
Service Guide Replacing Parts 2 Replace the cover on the Fiery ES. Make sure that all cables are fully inside the chassis before you replace the cover. Slide the cover until it engages the edge of the chassis opposite the connector panel, and then lower the cover. Figure 13: Replacing the chassis cover 3 Replace the two screws that you removed earlier.
